We are regularly asked about smaller briners suitable for manual loading and bulk bag loading. Our low profile 3-ton unit meets the needs of a majority of those applications quite well. So much so, that we maintain an inventory of this 5’0” x 5’6” tall briner for shipment 2-3 days after receipt of order.

The basic unit includes everything necessary to begin making saturated brine immediately; salt loading port, top manway, water inlet with EZ Out float valve assembly, vent, and brine collection plenum.

This briner ships complete on a pallet and is plug-and-play ready to drop into service. It can function as a down flow bulk briner and when equipped with our “hydro-pulse” mixer, is ideal for batch make-up too.

Pneumatically loaded bulk briners do their job of converting salt and water into saturated brine without much thought. Unfortunately though, an improperly maintained briner can fall victim to the pressure associated with pneumatic loading.

If you’ve ever witnessed a briner being loaded, you’ve seen the dust bag inflated by the air flow vented from the process. The dust bag is necessary to capture the salt dust generated by the loading. Otherwise, that dust would turn all ferrous materials in the surrounding area into a lovely rust-orange color.

The same pressure that is inflating the dust bag during loading, is being imposed on your briner. It is critically important to manage that pressure by assuring that your dust bag does not become blinded by salt dust particles.

There are measures you can take to assure that your briner has a long and happy service life:

~Maintain your dust bag between deliveries to prevent blinding
~House your dust bag in an enclosure to protect it from the elements
~Incorporate a pressure relief device into your briner venting design (if your briner is not already equipped with a pressure relief device, we can assist you with mounting too)

In 2020 we supplied an 8,000 gallon deicing solution batch make-up system to the Juneau (AK) International Airport. Because impellers can become “bound-up” in high solids loading, a traditional mechanical mixer was not a viable option.

Instead, we designed a system utilizing a hydro-pulse mixing system. This enabled the airport to rapidly unload bulk bags into the batch tank while continuously mixing until the 8,000 gallon batch was complete and the 16,000 pounds of sodium chloride based solids compound was in solution. The manufacturer of the deicing compound was astounded that our system effectively completed the process in 30 minutes compared to their projected 12-hour batching time. It should be noted that their background had been with mechanical mixers which require a very slow solids addition rate to avoid impeller binding within the solids.

We also had an advantage, our sister company has over 30 years experience with tank and mixer, blending system integration. We leveraged their expertise to design the system and
create a high-performance solution.

Our success recently resulted in the supply of another Rapid Brine Batching System to a major international consumer products manufacturer … with a 2nd, larger system, in the works. It is apparent that rapid brine batching can now be considered a viable option to satisfy your brine requirements, regardless of batch size or the required concentration.
