In Ecclesiastes 4, the Preacher observes the loneliness and competition that often characterize human existence. Yet, he also offers a profound message on the importance of community and mutual support. He speaks of the benefits of companionship and teamwork, reminding us that we are stronger together.
This chapter challenges us to reflect on our relationships with others, encouraging us to support one another in our life journeys and to reject the isolation often imposed by societal competition.

In Ecclesiastes 2, the Preacher undertakes an exploration of life's pleasures - wealth, power, success - in a quest to find meaning and satisfaction. Despite his great achievements and indulgences, he finds that all these pursuits lead to a sense of emptiness, declaring them as "vanity and a striving after wind."
In his search, the Preacher ultimately discovers that true fulfillment is not found in earthly achievements but in God. His journey challenges us to reconsider where we seek our own satisfaction, reminding us that only in God can we find lasting contentment.

Our Bible lesson this week causes us to examine our motivation for mission. Just as there are less-than-perfect reasons to do good deeds for others, we must admit that some are preaching and teaching about God for selfish, unworthy reasons.
In the same vein, we must discover the best way to prepare for service. God must be intimately involved in our plans every step of the way. Our witnessing should not be done haphazardly, but come out of proper instruction and receiving from God, through prayer and Bible study, the tools that make for our greatest success.
Examples of the early church experience will help guide us to answers that can be useful today.
What cities, near and far, did you identify that may be areas you or your church may be able to reach, at least with your prayers? This was our challenge last week.
