A Stage 2 Burn Ban begins July 12, 2023.

Under a Stage 2 Burn Ban, all outdoor burning – including recreational fires – is prohibited.

The ban includes recreational fires in the open – like those on beaches or bonfire locations, improved fire pits in yards, parks or camping areas, backyard or other outdoor fireplaces or similar in improved firepits, backyard fireplaces, beach or bonfires, are prohibited.

Burning permits are suspended, all outdoor burning is suspended, recreational burning is now prohibited including those in improved fire pits in parks or campgrounds, outdoor fireplaces and similar appliances, and the use of charcoal or charcoal briquettes unless the use involves a barbeque or other appliances specific for the purpose and occurs over a non-combustible surface like concrete.

The Kitsap County Fire Marshal is implementing a stage 2 burn ban beginning Wednesday, July 12. "Kitsap County is about a month ahead of fire conditions we normally see during this time of year due to a dryer than normal spring, according to David Lynam, Kitsap County's Fire Marshal. "Weather predictions call for normal or below precipitation and above normal temperatures over the next couple of months," Lynam added.

During the lead up to the 2008 housing crisis, it was much easier to get a home loan than it is today. Back then, lending institutions took on riskier borrowers and offered higher-risk mortgage products. Today, things are different, and buyers face stronger standards from mortgage companies. Are Old Houses Cheaper Than New Ones? 01/13/2023

There are countless factors to consider when purchasing a home, like its location, style, and square footage. One key consideration to weigh is whether you’re interested in a newer home or an older home. New builds may be outfitted with modern amenities and feature on-trend open plan layouts, but they can’t match the charm and character of an older home.
Listing prices for newer homes tend to be more expensive, but overall home ownership expenses are dictated by far more than the cost of your mortgage.
This article breaks down the true cost of cheap old houses by factoring in maintenance costs, energy costs, and insurance.
Whether your looking for a new or old home, I'm your girl!

Over the past few weeks, we have seen an increase in nighttime residential burglaries in Kitsap County.

With the holiday season in full swing, Deputies are stepping up neighborhood patrols throughout the county and we are asking you to help us by taking extra precautions to secure your homes and property and letting us know when suspicious or unusual activity is happening in your neighborhoods.

Here are a few tips to help safeguard your property and deter criminal activity:

1. Lock your doors and windows when you go to bed. This is also a good idea during daytime hours. Oftentimes, burglaries are crimes of opportunity. Do your best to limit these opportunities.

2. The same advice applies to your vehicles as well…lock and alarm them. Don’t leave anything valuable inside your cars, especially in sight, inviting thieves to victimize you.

3. Keep the exterior of your home lit up at night. Turn on garage and porch lights to help illuminate entry points around your home.

4. Consider installing alarms, if possible, on your homes and vehicles. If you hear an alarm sounding, don’t assume it is monitored, call 9-1-1.

5. If you see or hear suspicious activity in your neighborhood, please call 9-1-1 when you see it...all times of the day but especially at night. Deputies will respond to investigate as fast as they can.

You may consider organizing a community watch group in your neighborhood. For more information and support on how to do this, please contact Deputy Schon Montague at [email protected].

For more tips and information about how to safeguard you home and neighborhood, please visit our web page at the following link: https://www.kitsapgov.com/sheriff/Pages/crimeprevention.aspx

Working together, as partners, we can make an impact on the safety and security of our homes and neighborhoods to ensure Kitsap County is a safer place to live, work and play!

My Journey

When I was in high school I had no idea what I truly wanted to do when I “grew up”. I worked in child care, retail, as a security officer, ran paper routes... not ever sure of who I actually was. I thought I wanted to be an archaeologist for the longest time, and honestly I still wish I would be. I thought about going to culinary school, but knew the expense was more than I could handle when I was younger.

Then I met my husband and his 2 wonderful children. Together we have another child. We started a remodeling and rodent control company early on in our relationship. This afforded me the ability to work from home and be there for our 3 children. It gave us the ability to set our schedules so that we would never miss an important event to our children. From various sports, to performances, and beyond, we were able to be there for almost all of them. We we able to see our children grow with them, instead of from the few passing moments.

Our nest began to empty. Children grow and move away. It was time for a change. Now our son has grown and moved out to be closer to his mom and sister. Our daughter has grown and graduated university and has become a teacher. I miss them every day, but know they are on the way to fulfilling their own goals in life. I could not be more proud of them.

When we closed our company, in 2014, I briefly went back to work as a delivery driver and, while I loved the job, it took me away from our youngest daughter more than I wanted. I did not wish to be a fleeting moments mom. So I looked back on all the fleeting “maybe I should do that” career ideas I had and one stuck out as something I went back to many times over the course of 13 years in business with my husband was getting my Real Estate license. So I sat down, figured out a plan, and put my nose to the grind stone.
