RANCHO SIMI RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT is a separate government agency from the City of Simi Valley. It was formed in 1961 for the specific purpose of providing parks and recreation activities to our community. Since that time, the Park District has established 50 parks and preserved over 5,600 acres of open space that is now used for hiking, biking, horseback riding and wildlife preservation. S

Today’s offering is designed to get you active outside! Registration is now open for Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District’s Smart Cycling Class featuring hands-on instruction by Nick Esser, certified League of American Bicyclists instructor, to educate riders about biking safely and sharing the road. The class covers the ABCs of cycling, including proper helmet usage, bike handling skills, and more, to empower cyclists of all levels, from beginners to experienced riders, with practical tools and confidence to navigate the roads safely. The class will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 9:00am to 12:30pm at 4201 Guardian Street in Simi Valley. Pre-registration is required, and a $5 supply fee will be collected at the door. September is National Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. To help do our part to bring awareness to this topic through positive mental health, Rancho Simi will be highlighting some new programs and activities to enjoy this fall. Over the next four weeks, our campaign will highlight some positive ways to get out, get moving, and prioritize mental health in everyday life.

Oak Park! The Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District will host another Oak Park Community Engagement Session tonight to provide Oak Park residents with the opportunity to offer input, receive information, and collaborate on District operations in the Oak Park area.
Oak Park Community Engagement Sessions began in April and will continue through the end of 2024 on the second Thursday of every other month from 4:30pm to 6:00pm at the Oak Park Community Center located at 1000 North Kanan Road. The final session will take place on November 14th. Tonight’s session will take place in the OPCC Nature Center.
District representatives will be available to receive input regarding park and recreation projects, programs, and other items of interest to the Oak Park community.
