Riley girl💕

We took her for X-rays as a precaution, and sweet girl’s results were great! Just wanted to ensure there was no foreign objects in her belly 🙌

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!!!
Located in Southern California!

We want ALL our dogs to be fostered/adopted, but we are prioritizing these 3!
Duce, Riley, and Chato have been through some quite traumatizing experiences and need special care.
All 3 are surprisingly doing AMAZING since their rescue. It goes to show you how forgiving, resilient, strong, and loving dogs can be!

We need experienced fosters or dog owners who are comfortable and willing to follow our requests for how to properly care for our dogs.

If you are interested in finding out more, comment or DM us!
You can apply to foster in our bio or on the website.
www.mikosrescuemission.org

Not in the place to foster or adopt a dog? Please share this so we can find the best homes for Duce, Riley, and Chato!

Riley is the CUSTEST little mini pitty around! She is soaking in all the attention and enjoying doing dog things again! And she needs a MEDICAL FOSTER HOME ASAP! Anywhere in SoCal!

We are looking for a home where she can remain completely physically separated from any other dogs for at least the first few weeks to continue to allow for adequate decompression and to learn more about her!

What we know about Riley so far:

💕Approximately 7 years old, Spayed Female
💕Up-to-date on all shots
💕Potty Trained and will let you know when she needs to go out!
💕 She is large dog friendly with slow intros (she has been in a soft crate in my back seat with Miko also in the car and has been completely nonreactive!)
💕She has a somewhat high prey drive (she loves searching for lizards!) and would do best in a home with NO CATS AND NO SMALL DOGS
💕MEDICAL: She was starved, so she needs to eat small amounts of food every 3-4 hours for at least 1 week to prevent her from eating too quickly (vet check up in Simi Valley will be needed soon to track her progress)
💕MEDICAL: She has topical wipes and medicated ointment that needs to be applied to multiple spots on her body every 12 hours
💕MEDICAL: Must be given allergy medication every 12 hours with a meal to help with skin issues
💕Looooves snuggles, pets, belly rubs, and to be close to people! (She gives the most gentle kisses 🥹)
💕Fast or quick movements may startle her, so she needs someone who is very mindful of their movements and who can comfort her when needed
💕She’s quiet and hasn’t barked much at all! Will whimper for more pets though 🥹😍
💕She allows full body handling along with being picked up easily

If you would like to foster or foster-to-adopt Riley, please fill out our Foster Application on MikosRescueMission.org to begin the process! 💐

URGENT!!! We need two transporters ASAP!!!

Photos from Miko's Rescue Mission Inc.'s post 08/21/2024

LOOK AT THIS GUY!!! Sweet Duce is finally out of the shelter and living in a HOME ENVIRONMENT for the first time in a long time. I am so so grateful for the short-term foster family for opening up their home to allow Duce to begin his long decompression period from the shelter. He will be with them for a couple of weeks but then needs a place to go after this first part of his journey!

HE NEEDS A LONGTERM FOSTER— a 3 to 6 month commitment— IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ASAP!!

Ideally we need a home where he can be 100% separated from any other animals in the home 100% of the time (at least for the first few weeks until we approve any slow intros to begin).

Duce has been living in a very stressful environment for a very prolonged period of time, and his nervous system needs adequate time to recalibrate and adjust to being in a new living environment (being in a home vs shelter) as well as a set routine with lots of SLEEP, predictability and structure.🥰💤

While he is dog friendly and nonreactive to other dogs, part of our rescue’s protocol is to be overly cautious with dog introductions until we know the dog very well and can ensure consistent and constant supervision and management of all dog interactions.🙌

We also don’t focus on any kind of obedience training right away (unless needed to train a specific cue for safety). Our approach is a bit different as we focus on first implementing a consistent routine, nutrition, sleep, and RELAXATION TRAINING! (See for more)

So, Duce LOVES to play fetch! And while this is great, it can also make a dog more hyper and harder to settle, so we’ll still keep some fetch in there, but I think this guy will really thrive with lots of nature walks where he can SNIFF, walk slow and just soak in the great outdoors! After 2 years in a kennel, I’m so excited to see this boy out on a hill somewhere soon!☀️🌱

As we continue to learn more about Duce, we’ll keep you updated! I will be meeting him & the foster this week as well as taking him to his vet appointment and getting him out to a quiet spot in nature so he can sniff and explore!🌳👏

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST AND HELP DUCE FIND A 3 TO 6 MONTH FOSTER HOME!!🎉

Today I’ll be buying sweetheart his essentials (harness/leash, name tag w/rescue contact info, treats, bed/pillow, playpen fencing, and treats) and scheduling him to see our vet ASAP!

He’s very sweet and lets me handle him easily, so I will also attempt to give him a bath at my apartment this afternoon because he is very smelly, dirty, and really needs it! Then next week we’ll get him to a mobile groomer because he needs his nails trimmed, ears cleaned, and some extra TLC for his nose and paws 🐾❤️

08/03/2024

WELCOME SWEET BOY ANT!!! So, it’s story time!

I saw his post several days ago and he had been heavy on my heart, but we had no foster or way to realistically help. So I just let that feeling be, and thought ‘the universe will work it out if we could help’.

Then yesterday AT 4PM our amazing foster reached out to me asking if she could foster and help out to save him. Now, he has been on my radar but we were not actively working on a plan—so a handful of people immediately jumped into action to begin networking and contacting others who would be willing to help!

And we found people to help! And then this morning bright and early, our foster had a major emergency and has to go out of state for a week. Since we had already committed to saving Ant, we weren’t letting this deter us and we weren’t backing out now!

Thankfully we had a back up plan, so sweet boy Ant will be staying at our facility and be in the care of me and Marina!

This will give sweet boy some time to decompress, sleep a lot, and allow us to learn more about him and his specific needs or triggers. Then once our foster is back home, we will go from there!

Depending on how Ant presents around other dogs, he will go with this foster, or he may end up staying at our facility and one of our other foster dogs will go there instead.

Ultimately, whatever is going to be the most ideal arrangement for sweet boy is what we will do. And regardless of where he will stay longer term, Ant’s best interests are always the number 1 priority!

It’s really important for me that our dogs are raised with kindness, compassion, and LOTS of autonomy (making their own choices) because they’ve gone through so much in their lives, so giving them as much freedom (safely) as possible is always top of mind! ❤️

So thank you for being here, for supporting our dogs, our new rescue, and helping us SAVE MORE PITBULLS!!m

We ARE on an Intake Hold, but I am so grateful we were able to save Ant!!! 🥳

Please donate towards Ant’s ongoing care! We run 100% on your donations 🙏🏽

Hi! Just getting this up on Facebook! (We’re most active on Instagram)

FREEDOM FRIDAY!!!!
We are so excited to welcome Ant to Miko’s Rescue Mission!!
He was one of the lucky ones spared at the shelter yesterday. He definitely had an angel looking out for him.
We think Ant is an American bully or bully/pit mix…and he’s definitely 100% CUTE!!

Ant is #11 for rescued dogs since starting the rescue in March. And 11 is our volunteer .mckown favorite number!
Maybe you can donate $11, $111, or anything you want!! 🫶🏽

Ant does need to be neutered and get meds for his doggy cold, plus all of his other needs!

💸💸PLEASE DONATE TOWARDS ANT’S CARE:

We can’t save and care for dogs without your help. THANK YOU!

It has happened again…we are closed for any new dog intakes.
With donations very slow…nearly non-existent once the dog is rescued, and being a VERY small rescue with 5 dogs to care for on top of our personal dogs, we cannot take on more.
As much as we would love to save so many more, we need to be responsible and realistic. Without a committed foster or funding, along with getting our current dogs into foster-to-adopt homes, we cannot take in anymore. 😭

If you are interested in volunteering, fostering, or our foster-to-adopt program, please contact Crystal .

HAPPY FRIDAY FROM BIG BOY RHINO!!! ☀️😍

After getting to know sweet boy over the last month, he will be best suited in a home with no kids, no small dogs, and no cats! He needs an experienced handler who can physically handle a 70lb boy who is tall! (Bigger than he looks in pictures)

He is large-dog friendly and has been “roomies” (separate playpen areas) with Phoenix and they see each other through a barrier daily and both do well/don’t really acknowledge each other.

Rhino has been through a lot of trauma from the way he was abandoned and pushed out of a car. Because of this, he fixates on cars during walks and tries his hardest to get close to them, or sits by the curb to watch cars passing by.

He needs someone who can be understanding to the sadness and grief he is experiencing, and someone who is willing to go at his pace and help him work through his desperation to get back to his old family who abandoned him.

He needs someone with a BIG heart who can give him a new family and chance at living life to the fullest so that he won’t keep thinking about his past traumas.

He’s available for foster-to-adopt! Please submit an application on our website MikosRescueMission.org!

From this morning’s walk 💕

07/19/2024

We’ve been so busy the last couple of days now that we have lifted our intake hold. I meant to post this earlier this week, but THANK YOU SO MUCH for 500 followers!!! We’re so grateful for your support in this wonderful community!!

is the inspiration behind our rescue. I adopted him in November 2022 and quickly learned about his severe separation anxiety, intense leash reactivity, sound sensitivity, and overall panic disorder. It was tough those first 6 months, I quit my job, moved home with my mom because I needed help—it was like having a newborn child because he needed to be with me 24/7.

I initially tried some training styles that just weren’t for us, so I searched and found a more holistic and emotion-focused trainers in , and that’s how me and Miko began our journey!

In dedicating my life 24/7 to his care, I finally started to allow myself to dream and envision we’ve potential to one day follow my dreams to open a Pitbull rescue and sanctuary… easier said than done with an animal reactive dog 😂😂

BUT HERE WE ARE MAKING IT HAPPEN!!! It truly is Miko’s Rescue Mission, because I have the ability to care for our foster dogs when Miko is sleeping soundly in his crate ALONE!!! We’ve done so much training together, and I’m just so proud of how far my sweet baby boy has come in the last year and a half!

It’s an absolute joy to be saving more Pitbulls, and I make sure to thank Miko each time and tell him all about his new “foster sibling” each time we save someone new! 🥹🥰

So thank you for being here and pledging, donating, and sharing our posts and helping us connect with others in the rescue world! We can accomplish LIFESAVING MISSIONS when we work together (no sense in bashing one another). I am so grateful for each one of you, thank you for supporting Miko’s Rescue Mission!

07/12/2024

The first girl we saved, my baby Baya! I saved her with the intention of adopting her, and we got her out at the end of March of this year!

She was fka Belle and had never really had stability in her life. She entered the shelter system at just 2 months old and lived there until she was ‘adopted’ for 5 months and then returned in Feb 2024 for a bite incident with the owner’s child (I think there was a lack of supervision/management and Baya is very high energy and takes treats roughly)

She was deemed ‘Rescue Only’ and we had our friends help us get her tagged and pulled (since we aren’t 501c3 yet) and then helped with transport! Then was sweet girl’s temporary foster while I finalized my arrangements to get baby girl home!

Then it was a slow process to begin integrating Miko and Baya together. And now they absolutely adore each other! But they stay separated except for supervised playtime 🥰

THISSSSSS is what it looks like when a pitty finds their furever home! Baya is absolutely thriving and living her best life! She wears a muzzle because she thinks small dogs are snacks, and our apartment complex has people with off leash small dogs all over the place, so I’m just being a responsible and respectful dog mom (even when they aren’t because their dogs are off leash). All about being proactive to keep our babies safe and happy!

IT’S OFFICIAL! ABBY IS A FOSTER FAIL!!! Sweet girl will be living with us permanently because I can’t imagine my life without her, and I know her siblings Miko, Baya, and Sancho feel the same way!! 🥳🥳😍😍🥰🥰

Babygirl officially moved in yesterday, and is doing so well cohabitating (in crates) in a shared bedroom with Baya! They will alternate having free time to run around the bedroom, once I’ve ensured I’ve fully Baya-proofed it all 🤣🤣😬😬😅😅

THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Abby and those who advocated for her and checked in on sweet girl! I didn’t want to make the official announcement until I knew it would be a good fit after she moved in, and it is!!
