For a fun we share some advertisements from the early 1960’s when Sidewalk Surfboards were just considered toys. Luckily it evolved into an entire culture that changed lives and even the world.

Here is another Skateboard made from solid aluminum. It’s very unique and was made in the 1980’s in the Soviet Union. Double kick, rubber grip on both ends, built in baseplates and weighing in at 7lbs even. The writing on the top translates into something like “Rolling”. This is one of several Soviet Skateboard’s in our collection and was donated to us All of the other Soviet boards in our collection came from our sister Museum

From our collection we share the Bomac Ski Skater made in Santa Monica, CA of solid aluminum. Featuring Sure Grip clay wheels. If we have never seen another one exactly like it we consider it extremely rare. Has anyone else seen one or perhaps owned one? We know there was an article in Popular Mechanics Magazine featuring the Bomac in 1962. Who said the first commercially produced Skateboards came out in 1962? I guess this doesn’t qualify because it’s a Ski Skater and not a Skateboard. 😉
