Today we commemorate the Emanuel Nine. On June 17, 2015, Clementa C. Pinckney, Cynthia Marie Graham Hurd, Susie Jackson, Ethel Lee Lance, DePayne Middleton-Doctor, Tywanza Sanders, Daniel Lee Simmons, Sharonda Coleman-Singleton, and Myra Thompson were murdered by a self-professed white supremacist while they were gathered for Bible study and prayer at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church (often referred to as Mother Emanuel) in Charleston, S.C. Pastors Pinckney and Simmons were both graduates of the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. A resolution to commemorate June 17 as a day of repentance for the martyrdom of the Emanuel Nine was adopted by the Churchwide Assembly of the ELCA on August 8, 2019. Congregations of the ELCA are encouraged reaffirm their commitment to repenting of the sins of racism and white supremacy which continue to plague this church, to venerate the martyrdom of the Emanuel Nine, and to mark this day of penitence with study and prayer. Happy Father’s Day!
On Father’s Day, we pray for those who are fathers or wish to be fathers, for those with broken or strained relationships, for those who are missing their fathers, and for fathers who have lost children. We rejoice in God’s enduring love for all people.
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GRADUATES! We celebrated our High School graduates- Christine & Nuria last Sunday! They were presented with their faith quilts at our service in the park and annual picnic. The world is a better place with these two! Blessings to you both in your next chapter ❤️🙏
We give thanks for the gifts, wisdom, leadership and faith of our LGBTQIA+ neighbors and siblings in Christ. We ask the Spirit to embolden us in advocating for social, institutional and legislative change that reflects justice, total inclusion and God’s boundless love for humanity in all its diversity. Today is Memorial Day. Let us pray: Almighty God, you are our strength and our shield. We give you thanks for the members of our armed forces past and present, and especially for those who have died while serving. May their sacrifices serve the cause of peace, and may our nation be ever grateful for their service. With your wisdom and strength guide our military’s leaders and give to all people a desire for justice and peace. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen. (Prayer for Memorial Day, Sundays and Seasons)

“Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you.’ After he said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, ‘Peace be with you. As God has sent me, so I send you’” (John 20:19-21).
Happy Easter! Christ is risen!
“Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here” (Mark 16:6). Today we celebrate God’s unending love through the resurrection of Jesus and share this good news with all the world. Alleluia!
Today is Good Friday. "When Jesus knew that all was now finished, he said (in order to fulfill the scripture), 'I am thirsty.' When Jesus had received the wine, he said, 'It is finished.' Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit" (John 19:28,30)
