“Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh" (Romans 13:14, NIV)

Believe it or not, putting on clothes can change the way a person feels and acts. A uniform not only designates someone’s profession (police officers, doctors, etc.), but it also changes how they carry themselves and how they act toward others. Many times, the clothing people wear can embody aspects of their character. The style of the clothes you choose reflects your mood, health, and overall confidence. Scientists call this phenomenon "enclothed cognition."

Paul instructs us to clothe ourselves with the Lord. How can we do this? First, embrace the Good News of the Gospel. Second, identify with what Jesus has done for you through water baptism. And third, embody the qualities of Jesus (love, humility, truth, service) while he walked on the earth. In doing so you will "clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ."

"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8, NIV)

Forgiveness is a radical decision not to hold an offense against the offender. It means to release the person from punishment or penalty. In Greek, the word most often used to translate forgive is aphiemi. It means to “let go,” “set free,” “release,” “remit” or “liberate.” It is used repeatedly in the context of a debt that has been paid in full.

In the most magnificent display of aphiemi, the Bible tells us that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us – what a statement! God loved us even while we were in total rebellion and up to our ears in a debt that we could not pay.

And what about the cost of our redemption? “Christ died for us…” The wages of sin is death, according to the Bible, but Jesus took the entire wreckage of a broken human project on himself, and we walked out scot-free and forgiven.

Oh, the debts of His grace and love for us!

Maple syrup as a picture of Hope:

During freezing temperatures, to the naked eye, the maple tree appears dead; no visible signs of life on the outside. However, it would be a mistake to uproot the tree.
What we can't see is what is going on deep inside its roots; the freezing temperatures (suffering/hardships) transforming the sugars in its roots into syrup (beautiful HOPE)!!

Strategies to winning the battle to temptation:
✓Make a habit of reading the Bible first thing in the morning everyday.
✓Make a habit of praying before you go to bed at night
✓Make a habit of ridding your life from influences that steer you in a bad direction.

1 Corinthians 10:13.."And God is Faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can beat. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can ensure it."
