Discovered in northern Iraq, this majestic 18-ton lamassu from Sargon II's era (721-705 BC) symbolizes ancient Assyrian strength and intelligence. With its human head, bull body, and eagle wings, this guardian once stood at Dur-Sharrukin's entrance. Though looters removed its head in the 1990s, the rest of the statue is remarkably intact and now in the Baghdad Museum. How does this discovery reshape our understanding of Assyrian culture?
