“FOLKS” or “FOLX”?

Recently I saw the word “FOLX” in someone else’s writing. I did a double take, thinking it was a typo. But not so fast! I Googled this particular spelling and learned it was meant to be a more inclusive version of the word, like Latinx which goes beyond the male (Latino) and female (Latina). I found the following article that explained this and thought I’d share it.

I don’t know why I started using the word “folks” in my writing and speaking. It’s partly my style - I like to use folksy language. And, as a marketing consultant, I’m often recommending what we want our target audience (our “folks”) to do when they see our marketing pieces. I think I’ll use FOLX moving forward.
