Volunteer Spotlight! Meet Alyssa! ❤❤❤

Alyssa says... I’ve been attending Advent for 8 years, but visited many times prior with my grandparents who have been members for over 10 years. My husband, BJ, and I were the first couple to get married in the new sanctuary almost 5 years ago. We have a beautiful little boy, Tripp, who can be seen in the nursery with his giraffe pacifier. When we aren’t in the nursery, you can find us out on our swing set, spending time with our family, or heading through the Chick Fil A drive thru. I have loved serving in the nursery, because of all the sweet baby snuggles, but most importantly experiencing Christ through our littlest member’s eyes. The Advent Kids team has been our family long before we had Tripp. We have found great support in our journey with Tripp’s autism diagnosis throughout our time on the Advent Kids hall. We are shown so much love and warmth every time we walk down the halls on Sunday mornings. We can’t wait to meet new family’s and continue growing relationships with our current friends.

VBS 5th graders had a blast painting rocks last night! If you're lucky you might just find one of these beauties when you're walking around the Advent campus one day soon!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT! Meet Lana! ❤❤❤

Lana and her husband, Jeff, joined Advent on Palm Sunday along with their daughter, Allison. Their oldest daughter, Lindsey Adams, and family are Advent members as well. For Lana, having the family together at Advent is a blessing! She has enjoyed volunteering with Advent Kids where her three grandchildren can be found. Being involved in the children’s program has been a helpful way to get to know other Advent members and contribute to a vital ministry of the church. Lana, Jeff and Allison enjoyed the opportunity to be part of Rise Against Hunger packing meals alongside others at Advent. In addition to staying busy as Nana to her three grands, Lana spends part of her time helping care for her mom. She and Jeff also enjoy bike riding on the Swamp Rabbit Trail.

We are so happy you and your family are now part of the Advent family, Lana! We love having you serve with us in Advent Kids!

The Smoothie Challenge & Pizza Challenge were huge hits! Families posted pictures of their homemade treats AND attended our summer events to earn points. The Trick Shot Challenge ends tonight so there is still time to play along and earn points this week!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT! Meet Allison! ❤❤❤

Allison joined Advent on Palm Sunday along with her parents, Jeff and Lana Zehr. She has enjoyed volunteering with Advent Kids in the Nursery and PreK classes where she has a niece and nephew. She is also a member of the the Midweek Connection Life Group. Her sister, Lindsey Adams and her family are also members at Advent. Allison and her parents live in Mauldin where she works as a server in the dining room of Palmetto Assisted Living. She previously worked in childcare for several years. Allison enjoys family gatherings, spending time with her boyfriend, Conor, and walking her dog, Bailey.

We are so happy to have Allison with us at Advent!

That's a wrap on our Advent Kids social events this month! A huge thank you to all the families who came to watch a movie, have dinner or play games with us. The events were a great success -- stay tuned for more to be scheduled!
