The start of a new school year is always exciting, but little ones sometimes feel nervous about making the transition whether that be the prospect of a new classroom, new teachers or new friends. Try these tips to help build your child's confidence for the first day of school and beyond:
👋 Wave Goodbye to Summer: Enjoy an end-of-summer picnic and a first day back at school breakfast with your family.
🙂 Keep it Positive: Your attitude makes a huge difference when it comes to building excitement about the school year. Talk to your child about all the fun they'll have and how they'll get to see their school friends soon.
🍎 Practice Healthy Habits: Schedules tend to get off track in the summer, so it's important to reestablish your child's normal sleeping and eating schedules. The transition will be easier for both of you when your little one is well-rested and feeling good.
🗓️ Make a Paper Chain: Starting in the final days of summer, create a paper chain with every "link" representing one day. Have your child draw what happened that day on each link. When the first month of school is over, you'll have a fun memory craft to decorate with.
📚 Read Together: Reading books about heading back to school is a fun way to get your child excited while helping strengthen their early literacy skills.
Share these tips with a friend who is looking for "back-to-school" advice for their 0-5-year-old!

Josh and Breanne are the proud parents of Benjamin and Henry! We love having their family as part of ours here at Primrose School of Simpsonville at Five Forks!
We are so grateful to be a part of the Farris boys’ early childhood education. Benjamin started in our Pre-K classroom in August, and he is getting ready to move into our Kindergarten classroom in the fall! Henry joined our Young Infant classroom in October, and he is now thriving in our Older Infant classroom! We have loved getting to know this sweet family, and we always look forward to seeing their smiling faces each day!
The Farris family has been nothing but caring, loving, and supportive from their very first day at our school. They are personable and easy to talk to, and shower our entire team with so much love and encouragement! There have been multiple times over the past year when Breanne and Benjamin have put together the sweetest personalized gifts for our teachers, and these precious tokens of appreciation mean the absolute world to us! In addition, when our families volunteered for a special Staff Appreciation lunch, Breanne noticed the items that nobody signed up for and brought them in addition to the items she had already signed up to bring! The Farris family is so thoughtful and generous, and they go above and beyond to show love and support to every member of our Primrose family!
In the classroom, Breanne and Josh are always willing to participate and help with special activities! Breanne volunteered to be a “Mystery Reader” and went ALL OUT to make the activity fun for the whole class - She brought a science-themed book and dressed in a lab coat and safety glasses, and even brought fun test tube trinkets for Benjamin’s classmates to keep! Breanne and Josh also keep Benjamin’s and Henry’s teachers updated and informed about any important information - They are excellent with communication and keeping everyone “in the loop”! It has been an honor to build a trusted relationship with this beautiful family and we are so thankful to have them as a part of our Primrose family! We can’t thank you enough for allowing us to be a part of Benjamin’s and Henry’s early education.
Please join us in celebrating this fabulous family!
Our chef, Ms. Cherrie, is such a wonderful asset to our team! She joined our team in October and instantly filled our school with smiles, laughter, and love! It has been such a joy to watch her build special relationships with our staff, students, and families!
Since her very first day, Chef Cherrie has been outstanding in more ways than one - She truly takes care of our students and staff and makes sure everyone’s tummies are full and happy! She is extremely dedicated to our school and works so hard to develop and implement a balanced menu each week. She always ensures all of the important food groups are met, while also making meals that our students enjoy! And not only is her food delicious, but she always focuses on nutrition to make sure our students receive the most important nutrients they need for the day - Her meals and snacks keep our children healthy and energized, which sets them up for a successful day of fun and learning! Needless to say, she knows the way to a child’s heart AND stomach, and our students look forward to seeing what she has prepared for lunch and snack each day!
Chef Cherrie is kind, cheerful, and thoughtful, and she always goes the extra mile to brighten everyone’s day. You will never see her without a smile on her face! She has wonderful relationships with our teachers, and occasionally makes special meals and snacks for our staff to enjoy. She is also excellent with communication, messaging our teachers regularly to update them on meal delivery times and any changes to the menu. Chef Cherrie pours her whole heart into our school, and the way she loves and cares for our students and staff is truly admirable! Chef Cherrie is a joy to have on our team, and we are so lucky to have her!
Please join us in celebrating Chef Cherrie’s job well done!

Our Preschool II teacher, Ms. Brenda, is such a wonderful asset to our team! She joined our team in November and instantly filled our school with smiles, laughter, and love! It has been such a joy to watch her build special relationships with our staff, students, and families!
Ms. Brenda truly goes above and beyond in her classroom, and she helps her students develop important life skills through the most fun and engaging activities! She prepares special lesson plans for math and literacy that go along with the weekly theme, and she creates the most incredible center enhancements! One week, Ms. Brenda set up a pizza restaurant where her students learned how to follow the directions on the menu, and they practiced counting pizza toppings! During another week, she set up a farmer’s market where her students learned about growing food and sharing with customers. Ms. Brenda has also set up a story-telling center where the children used our Primrose Friends to learn how to effectively tell a story, and she even came in on the weekend to set up a camping center, complete with all of the necessities for the perfect campsite! Ms. Brenda visits the library multiple times a week to pick up new books to read to the children, and she matches the books to each week’s curriculum. She works so hard to ensure that her lessons are exciting, interesting, and new, and her students love to discover the many activities and adventures each day will bring!
Above all else, Ms. Brenda wants her students to know how SPECIAL and LOVED they are. Every day, she gives each child a hug and tucks them in for nap time! She is patient with them and always encourages them to be the best they can be. She believes in her students and invests so much time and energy into making sure they achieve all of their goals! It’s no surprise that she has amazing relationships with all of her students’ parents - Ms. Brenda is reliable, trustworthy, honest, and understanding, and she has a true passion for teaching that shines through everything she does.
