Enroll your child in an interactive food group to create fun snacks, explore new foods, and gain experience with early cooking skills! This will be run directly after our Ready, Set, School program.

Enroll your child in this fun and interactive camp that helps your child to strengthen their reading/literacy skills before school starts in the fall!

Enroll your child in a fun and interactive experience that allows them to gain valuable skills related to meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning!

Enroll your child in this fun and hands-on camp that provides a safe environment for girls to develop conversational skills, conflict resolution, problem solving skills, and more!

Summer social group activities are a great way to continue engagement throughout the summer months with peers your child's same age who have  shared interests! Together, our team of skilled occupational and speech therapy facilitators will work to expand your child's social curiosity,  motivation and imitation through participation in science experiments, functional and social play. 

Don't see your child's age listed? Not a problem!
While we do use each child's chronological age as a guide, the final enrollment opportunities that are recommended strongly consider the needs and abilities of each participant.  Contact us today and let us help you find the right camp experience for your child.

Summer is an ideal time to help your little one develop the independence and self-confidence they need to be ready for school in September!

Help us give a warm welcome to our new Occupational Therapist, Kristine Beaulieu

Kristine graduated at the top of her class from Springfield College, Massachusetts where she received a bachelor's degree in Rehabilitation Services with a Minor in Psychology. She continued her education at Touro University where she graduated with honors and received a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy with a specialization in pediatrics. She is SIPT (Sensory Integration and Praxis Test) certified.

Kristine was born and raised on Long Island where she began her career in a private preschool. She soon moved to New York City where she practiced within the hospital setting and became the lead pediatric Occupational Therapist and manager of the hospital's pediatric outpatient program. Kristine also worked the hospital's rehabilitation rotations within the acute and subacute units, the NICU and PICU. Additionally, Kristine worked as a consultant to a special baby clinic and as an independent contractor providing in-home, early intervention services in Manhattan. In 2001, Kristine moved to Connecticut and practiced occupational therapy as a B-3 provider, worked within a pediatric outpatient clinic, and within the public-school settings. Kristine brings 22+ years of experience as a practitioner to the Burke Therapy team.

Over the course of her professional experiences, Kristine has been complimented on her compassionate demeanor, building of positive relationships and her professional expertise. Her clinical competencies involve a multitude of therapeutic interventions, techniques, strategies, and populations affected by physical, cognitive, congenital, and developmental conditions. Kristine has a versatile therapy style that involves providing her clients with purposeful activities that are meaningful to them and that positively engage them within their environments while targeting therapy goals. She is passionate about educating caregivers on therapeutic interventions that assist in providing opportunities for their loved one in the community and at home.

Burke therapy is excited to share this year’s summer programs!

If you are looking for a way for your child, teen or young adult to improve or maintain their skills this summer while building relationships with peers we have the groups for you! We expanded our groups this summer to cover school readiness skills, reading, handwriting, book clubs, science, cooking and more!

You do no need to be a current Burke Therapy client or meet any diagnostic eligibility criteria to join!

Writing Specialist; M.A. Literature
Julia Forneris graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2002 with a B.A in English. In 2005, she earned her Master of Arts degree in Literature, with a concentration in American Literature and a background in Writing and Rhetoric. While earning her degree, Julia worked first in the University’s Writing Center, followed by adjunct teaching. After working for several years as a writer and Managing Editor for the Federal Reserve, she then focused on freelancing for Deutsche Bank as well as local businesses within the community.
Julia came to Burke Therapy first as a parent and then a tutor, wanting to help students the same way she was able to as a writing center instructor. In addition to working with Burke Therapy, she is also the Outreach Coordinator for a local nonprofit. Coming from a family of educators has given her an appreciation for and insight into current practices, while bringing a fresh outside perspective given her work within the community. 
Julia is also VIRTUS trained, a National Catholic requirement of the private Catholic School community.
