In the spirit of Dave Alarcon, registration for the Cowpie 2 Masters Championship starts tonight at 7 pm. This is a Masters only PDGA B-Tier event with $1000 added cash to the pro purse, thanks to 2x MP65 Worlds Masters champion, Jay Gobrecht.
This year, we will implement 2 courses this year: South Hills and the newest course to the Lebanon arsenal, Coleman Park.
In addition to the elevated pro purse, all pros will receive a custom stamped Dynamic Discs disc, thanks to a monetary donation from Linc Morgan.
Amateurs will receive a custom stamped Dynamic Discs tournament disc in their player's pack as well. Also included in the amateur player pack will be a custom event Tacky Sack and a selection of Bobo's oat snacks, which serve as a great on-the-course snack. Amateurs will also receive payouts to the Just Playing Disc Golf Supply merchandise stand that will be set up all day.
As always, there will be a few extra surprises sprinkled in throughout the day. This event is capped at 144 players: 72 pros and 72 amateurs. Click the link below after 7 pm tonight to get this thing rolling!

100 players made the 2024 Battle @ The Hills presented by Discraft an absolute success! I have been honored to run this event for 3 years now after Mike Solt brought sanctioned disc golf to Lebanon County some years ago with the same event.
Since I have been playing and involved in this event, the players are usually subjected to some strong, swirling winds. Yesterday was no exception to that. The open temp holes were throwing some players for a loop, especially with the addition of a new island hole, Hole 20.
But one player figured out that island hole in the 2nd Round. Bill Bechtel made the island and crashed the chains for an ace right in front of my card and made $190 with that throw, and also completed the CTP for the hole for an extra $15. Patrick McCann grabbed the CTP during Round 1 on the same hole. The last CTP winner of the day was Rachel Appel on Hole 16 Yellow.
Let's get into the winners for the day:
MP60: Robin Billig (-13 126) took the win by 9 strokes over James Mayes (-4 135). Robin's impressive score would have been good enough to go to a playoff in MP40 and cash in MPO.
MP40: Timothy Wilson (-13 126) takes an 8 stroke victory over Patrick McCann (-5 134). This was Tim's second straight MP40 win in Lebanon over the last 2 weeks, with his win at Red Dead 2 last week.
FPO: The World's Strongest Disc Golfer, Emily Dale (+18 157) takes another win over lone competitor Rachel Appel (+24 163). Emily refused her signature flex pose in her picture because she said she was too cold 😆.
MPO: Josh Martin (-21 118) took the win over some strong pushes from 2 players tied for 2nd at -18 121, Bradley Oberholtzer and Ethan Yawger. Ethan Yawger decided to cash for the first time and join the pro ranks. 14 year old Hans Weaver also decided to do the same, as he placed tied for 5th place. Welcome to the pro ranks! The future of disc golf is bright with some of these players!
MA60: Charles Folsom (+23 162) took a 11 stroke win over 2nd place Michael Borneman (+34 173) in a division of 4 that battled together through both rounds.
MA50: Curvin Stine (+6 145) shot 2 above rating rounds to take a 6 stroke in over 2 players at +12, in Billy G and James Weaver, in a division with 6 players.
MA40: Colin Frazier (-7 132) flexed hard in the first round, shooting 50 points above his rating, earning him a 4 stroke victory over Justin Lyons (-3 136). There's gotta be something in that Prodigy plastic! 😆
FA3: Kailey Betz (+37 176) continues to impress, with over a 50% win percentage at PDGA events, taking the win by 4 strokes over Christine Ratkiewicz (+41 180).
MA1: Youngster Connor Leaman (-18 121) just destroyed his division. Connor took a 8 stroke win over 2nd place Austin Howard (-10 129), who shot 40 strokes over his rating both rounds, but still could not make up ground on the young phenom.
MA2: Evan Dow and Sheldon Martin (both -5 134) needed 2 extra holes to decide a winner, but Evan pulled off the win on the temp island hole to grab his 2nd career win in a division of 17 players.
MA3: Bradley Cohick (+2 141) shot 30 points above his rating both rounds to grab his 2nd career win as well, over 2nd place Zach Rhoten (+5 144). Our MA3 field was the largest of the day with 19 participants.
MA4: Pattern here: youth. 9 year old Ethan Martin (+9 148) shot a 932 rated 1st Round and cruised to a 5 stroke victory over 2nd place Joey Herbert (+14 153).
Congratulations to all the winners, and before I end this long recap, I want to give thanks where they are needed. Thanks to South Hills Park staff, starting work a week early and cleaning up some of the winter mess in the park of branches and trash. Thanks to Mike Dunkle for loaning and setting up 3 temp baskets for the day. Thanks to my business partner Jason Pauley for hauling goods, taking care of sales, and anything that needs to get done. Thanks to some of the JP crew like Tatsuya Hattori, Kyle Kern, Dylan Smith, Meredith-Dan Ansel, Gary Daddario III, Ryan Fisher, and Curvin Stine for all they did from loading and u loading cars, moving tables, taking down OB flags and mandos, shuffling cards during lunch, and anything else I didn't see. That is the definition of a team right there. Also thanks to Christian Pauley for manning the pavilion while me and Jason were out playing. And if I missed anyone that helped, I sincerely apologize.
Next JP event upcoming is Leapin' Lenni on Saturday, April 27th. Details for qualification of the JP Championship in October will be revealed before this event. And amateurs, sign up for the 2024 Lebanon AM Championship that runs from April 19-21!!

Here is the 2024 Just Playing Disc Golf Supply tournament schedule, with 2 events that will be run solely by Lebanon Valley Disc Golf, but vended by JP.
All of the big ticket events are coming back for 2024, but some of the smaller events, like the Sunday one-round events are gone. A focus will be made on quality instead of quantity for 2024. Of course, a focus point of this schedule is the newly established Coleman Park.
More info on the Lebanon AM Championship 2024 will be made public when all preparations have been satisfied.

We had 65 players come out to the 4th event of the 2023 Just Playing Disc Golf Supply Cup: the Lebanon Crosstown. One round each at Lenni Lenape and South Hills with 18 spots again open to qualify for the JP Cup Finale at Coleman's Park in late October. With this weekend's event, we now have 81 players qualified for the JP Cup Finale: some extras were added from the expected 72 because of some scoring ties. A follow up post will be coming in the near future as we are about 2 months away from the event.
Before I get into the results of the day, I like to hand out my thanks where they are due. Thanks to my business partner, Jason Pauley, for transporting merchandise for all the events and for hyping up the players at the beginning of every player's meeting. Thanks to Christian Pauley for helping with sales as well. Thanks to Andrew Felker of Phoenix Discs for the awesome road sign trophies he was able to push out on very short notice. Thanks to Andy Hansen for helping put up and tear down some sponsor signs at the end of the day, and as always a big thanks to the park staff at South Hills for keeping an immaculate course as well as North Lebanon Township for maintaining Lenni Lenape as well as they have in the past year. Final thanks always goes to Gary Daddario for snapping winner pics at the end of the event.
Let's get to the results:
In MPO, we had 11 players signed up. Caleb Gatchell (Team JP member -14 102) was able to take the win over 2nd place, which was tied between Eric Moul and Jadan Brubaker (both at -11 105). Caleb overcame a 2 stroke deficit from Round 1 and shot a 988 rated round at South Hills, when most other players struggled.
In FPO, we had a the only solo division of the day, but a win is a win. Emily Dale (+5 121) took the win, shooting right around her rating for the day.
In MA1, we had 9 players ready to battle. Young prodigy Hans Weaver (-12 104) took the win over older brother Logan Weaver (-8 108). Hans sat one stroke back at the end of the first round, but strung together a 966 rated round to beat his older brother by 4 strokes on the day. Hans shot well enough to have placed 2nd in MPO.
In MA40, we had a field of 3 players for the day. 36 holes wasn't enough for the day apparently, as Ed Zajac bested Marshall Minor on the 2nd playoff hole, with both shooting a +1 117 for the day. These two played a game of cat and mouse throughout both rounds. Their rounds were a blast to watch on the live scoring.
In MA50, we had 5 players signed up for the day. Matthew Anderson (-2 114) took down 2nd place William Smith (+4 120) by 6 strokes. Matt took a 2 stroke lead out of Lenni and just added to the deficit at South Hills, shooting well above his rating both rounds.
MA2 had the biggest field of the day with 16 players. In the end, Jesse Myers (-12 104) took the win over Bradley Weaver (-9 107). Jesse earned his first career PDGA win on Saturday, shooting the exact same scores for the day as MA1 winner Hans Weaver, as well as shooting almost 50 points above his rating for both rounds.
MA3 fielded a group of 5 players for the day. Damon Bomgardner (+3 119) took the hard fought win over Alex Nye (+5 121). Damon selflessly admitted that he nearly lost a 6 stroke lead late in the 2nd Round, but he fended off Alex just enough to also receive his first career PDGA win.
With a couple of late signups, we actually fielded 2 players for the FA3 division. Lisa Koppenhaver (+36 152) took the win over Jaelyn Wrigley (+42 158). Both ladies shot well above their ratings for 3 of their 4 combined rounds, but Lisa had 2 of the rounds and gained the edge over Jaelyn to also earn the win.
Finally, in MA4 we had 13 players for the day. Youngster Ethan Martin (+5 121) took the win over 2nd place Alan Hansen (+9 125). Young Ethan made quite the splash in his first career PDGA event. After leaving Lenni tied for the lead after the first round, Ethan managed to shoot almost 100 points over his rating at South Hills to seal the deal.
No aces were hit for the day, so the $135 ace pot will be rolled over to the JP Cup Finale. The two CTP winners for the day included Marshall Minor from Lenni Lenape Hole 1 and Jadan Brubaker from South Hills Hole 4 Yellow. Both players received an Emily Dale signed Discraft Tour Series disc and a couple of JP Zing minis!
The 18 qualifiers for the finale from this event include the following: Ed Zajac, Jesse Myers, Damon Bomgardner, Lisa Koppenhaver, Ethan Martin, Eric Moul, Nate Weaver, Bradley Weaver, Luke Sprenkle, Logan Weaver, Dylan Smith, Austen Goodling, Andy Hansen, Sheldon Martin, Donovan Fox, Brian Stauffer, Daniel Nadeau, and Travis Heck.
Thanks to everyone that participated! Again, look for follow-up posts on the Cup Finale as we get closer to the completion of Coleman's Park!
