We talk about how we dislike our current situations. How our food, water, air is all being poisioned. Everyday we are reminded of this as we find out about the cancer causing properties on the back of our water bill or the lead in our childrens lunchables. The steriods in our meat and pesticides on/in our vegetables. The side effects of the medications we need to be on due to this poisoning. All while they rewrite our history books, steal our money and freedom and remove any information of all the medicinal and healing things we are provided by our beloved earth. We have been brought up on convenience and snarl at healing hard work. We microwave, use plastics; destroying both ourselves and our planet. Our temples; bodies are just destroyed.
We have all spent so much time, money and heartbreak over what this place is becoming but we stand paralyzed in fear. We dont question our abilities to work 60 hour weeks barely scrapping by while our children are raised by electronics and televisions. But we question our ability to go back to our roots. To put faith in ourselves to provide for our families in a different way a more self sufficient way. We make excuses because we cant fathom trial and error half the time. We stand in fear and excuses rather than ourselves and our communities.
The generation with the skills we need are dying off and few of us know the information they are taking with them.
The art they are taking with them will go back to the earth and we will in doubtly be without it if we dont act now. Time is of the essence. The time for change is now! As the future is looking glim for us and our childrens progress and comfort.
Im not saying run and take up arms or revolt. Im saying take control of your own life and make changes where you can. Deprogram and detox your mind, souls and bodies. Take back your children and your homes.
Yes, this is political to some degree but really its money and control.
Stop standing in fear! Help yourselves and help your communities!
How??? By taking control of the things you can control. Ive said it for years and so have others. So lets go through it again.
Lets start with plastic containers, toss them go with glass and ceramic.
Filter your water and then filter it again.
Ro systems can be purchased on amazon or rented through Culligan for an affordable cost considering what insurance and doctors cost.
Yes, it filters just about everything out so add your minerals and vitamins back in properly. Limes, lemons, fruits, herbs added to water will help!
Speaking of herbs use herbs. They have us removing medicinal "weeds" from our yards for grass that requires over watering and holds little to no value to us! ( I have been guilty of this the amount of money and time we have spent to deweed and seed our yard just to find out all the things i had in my yard were healing is insane) so European yard here i come!
Plant flowering, nut and fruit trees/bushes. They will not only provide you with food but shade. If you have an overage the ability to feed nature and community is a bonus.
If you have not had dandelion or lilac lemonade you are missing out!
Plant a garden be it small, above ground, your whole yard front and back half your yard who cares just start a garden. Again not only will you help nature and provide you and your family with food but you will know what the hell is in your food and where it came from.
How to grow food in cold places, well hydroponic gardens are amazing and a great way to start your seeds keeping your gardening bills lower once you get started. It's an investment but most have payment plans and you will save money in the long run. This also works well for people in apartments. Window gardens also work great for herbs and potted food plants. Don't forget to just have planets in general they will help filter and clean your air as well as reduce the dust. If possible start a community garden if you have to. Its work but again work worth while in all these cases. There's tons of vacant city/apartment owned land being unused taken over by grass and invasive weeds put in for a request for a communal garden. I am not a green thumb. The first year i had a garden i truly believed it had no weeds because my husband picked invasive weeds from it when i was gone. Trial and error. I didnt know what to plant so i planted too many of some things other things i killed the first year. Do your research where you can but dont be afraid to just go for it. Truly what do you have to lose by trying. If nothing else you will be grounded to the earth by working with it. Grounding leads to a more regulated body, a happier mood (lets not forget vitamin d from the sun) and better sleep among other things. Ok back to gardening, you dont need pesticides again this will take research but there are plants that work together as natural pesticides, please dont ask me what they are im still in the trial and error stage along with needing much more research but i have in two years learned alot from my mistakes and still gotten food and herbs.
I do know fertilizer is necessary which leads me to chickens. For anyone with a yard this includes in town most of you can have chickens and or ducks. The birds provide eggs, eat bugs and scraps, and compost for you! You dont need anything fancy for a coop just a sufficient one. The bird p**p and compost make for great fertilizer, hello full circle! The duck p**p especially has single handedly revived my once almost dead apple tree and the berries/grape vines i planted this year wayyyyy too soon in the yard. Glory to GOD on that one and my husband randomly bringing home ducks.
For when we are in season or even when we aren't most local small farmers have greenhouses i suggest getting your veggies from them. Farmers markets make it easy come spring into summer. And take their information for fall and winter veggies and fruits.
Save your money and buy meat from a local farmer in bulk or butcher. We are blessed here in sioux city to have red valley grocery who sells local and organic groceries and products! By shopping through these places you are not only supporting many small businesses (who are the ones putting money back into your communities keeping everyone thriving) but you are likely getting the best quality, quantity, and again not poisoning yourself! You need herbs i have herbalist both local and not but all informed and small businesses.
Lets move on... we've now gardened and or bought from local farmers but what do we do with the excess. We can guys! We are heading back in time. Canning will give you longevity of food storage and save you money. Will it save you time and work? No, actually hell no but it will save you money and peace of mind. For the 1000th time we are being poisoned and this will help to reduce that. When you dont can there are things that can be frozen. Go that route.
Vegetables and fruits can be canned, dehydrated, frozen (for some) freeze dried. You can use your own garden or the things youve purchased fresh from the farmers market, local small grocery but the quality is notable. And your health will show it. Make your own bread or again purchase it from a local small business. I have several i can refer.
Moving on once more things! We all want things and social media has led us astray we are shopping big box stores and amazon constantly for things. Things we need things we don't. Theres a place for corporations to some degree we will always need them. But reducing our purchasing where we can will help to lower cost over time and hopefully reduce mass production creating a polluted and trashed earth. So where do we get our things you ask? Well, the saying one mans trash is another mans treasure fits perfectly here. Thrift, garage sales, estate sales, auctions, and again small businesses are perfect for our "things" to be found.
A little sanitation and elbow grease sometimes some repurposing and wala perfect! I have found all kinds of things I've wanted due to influencers at a fraction of the cost doing this. Butter bell, rocking chair, end tables, egg whisk, sour dough whisk, home decorations, laddles, grandfather clocks, dishes the list goes on. Did i find it all instantly? No! But looking has been half the fun it's like a treasure hunt. I have a list of things I've wanted that I've seen influenced and i keep it close when i shop. This is where we start to get past our ego and instant gratification. We learn patience, love, and elbow grease from this transition. We trash less and repurpose more. We donate so the cycle can be complete. I mean let's be honest here furniture was made better in our grandparents day. The architecture, art, wood working all just to a profound level.
So, now is usually where i get the argument of corporations keeping people employed. What a crock people are being replaced by machines in cooperate stores. To them we are a number at best. If more people shopped local and small then these businesses could afford to employ more people. But we'd rather the convenience and to save a buck immediately than support people locally. You know who cares about your work/home life balance more, it's small businesses. Small businesses will shut down for the day during a blizzard to keep their employees safe but papa johns will continue to have people out delivering pizzas. All about the $$$!!
Small businesses overall care about what happens to the people working for them. They care what products they are putting out. They create events for you to have things to do and enjoy. I could go on but i digress.
All this to say it's time my dudes. It's time to help ourselves and help each other. It's time to take back control where we can!
what's stopping you from treating yourself to something you deserve today? โ๐
