Siouxland Christian School

This weekend, our Siouxland Christian team attended NIETOC (National Individual Tournament of Champions) which pulled huge schools throughout the entire country to compete (including enormous 4A schools from Minnesota, Texas, and California!) Here is our results:

Taya Eisenga & Danny McCune — 22nd in Duo
Danny McCune & Jack McCune — Thirteenth in Duet Acting
Kaleb Kucera & Grady Lyman — Sixth Place IN THE NATION in Duet Acting (out of 86)
Kaleb Kucera & Grady Lyman — Sixth Place IN THE NATION for Duo Interpretation (out of 139)
Abby Rasmussen — Fourth place iN THE NATION for Dramatic Interpretation (out of 203)
Abby Rasmussen — Fourth place IN THE NATION for Humorous Interpretation (out of 160)

We are also thrilled to announce that Siouxland Christian won the Sweepstakes award, which means that we ranked the BEST out of teams who had 6-10 events. This activity has schools from around the country who have 20+ coaches and teams of hundreds of students. Our school, with our seven competitors, had an absolutely phenomenal showing. To say that this is a large achievement is an understatement, and students were able to impact and change lives!

Please congratulate this small but iNCREDIBLY mighty team, and praise God for His blessings!!

Congratulations to John Reynolds and Hunter Pearson for qualifying for the state track meet!

Hunter qualified in the 100 meter dash. John qualified in the Shot Put, 100, 200, and 400 meter dash in the ambulatory para division.

Today we had the privilege of having Scott Klusendorf, President of Life Training Institute, speak to our 7th-12th graders in chapel. Scott trains pro-life advocates to make a persuasive case for life in the public square. His talks have been featured on nationally known radio programs! His book The Case for Life: Equipping Christians to Engage the Culture is used by pro-life advocates worldwide.

Scott challenged our students to understand what they believe and be able to defend what they believe.

He focused on the SLED argument. The SLED test offers a simple argument for pro-life values. When discussing issues of life, the sanctity of the unborn is often up for debate. Claims may be made that a life only receives value once it exists outside of the womb, gaining worth only upon becoming a “person.” The SLED argument refutes these claims by defending them using these 4 main points; Size, Level of Development, Environment, and Degree of Dependency.

Our middle school team had an amazing time at Creighton Prep Middle School Tournament! Much thanks to our gracious hosts! This time, our tiny team of five walked away with fifth place in Sweepstakes, which means we had the fifth highest rankings overall. This is such a huge deal, especially since for some of our team, this was our first EVER tournament! Here are our results:
