I have been quiet online but I have been a busy bee over here!! I am gearing up for the Washington Pavilion Sidewalk Arts Festival!
in a few short weeks! I am a proud sponsor of this event for the last few years, it is a hometown tradition and one of the first events I started with many moons ago! I have such fun stuff in the works and can’t wait to share it with Sioux Falls on September 7th!

Tomorrow is the day!!!

I spent most of my Thursday redoing my kids space at Farmhouse Market! Restocks galore. Lots of new hair bows, focusing on the older girls!! The larger, long hair bows are super trending with the tweens according to my oldest! New coil ties, art kits, sensory bins, jewelry boxes…the list goes on!
Karlee is almost sold out of her crochet critters, I think she realized what burnout is and has to be in the mood 😉 More are in the works, thanks so much for your continued support. My spaces have had empty racks, my heart is so full! This weekend is my open jewelry bar from 10-2ish or later! Also, the first weekend of the vendor market!! Tons of great vendors will be set up outside for double the fun!!

A new collection will be heading to mama’s kids corner at Farmhouse Market!!
This is my oldest, Karlee! (11, going on 19 🥲) Although she has been creating since she came out of the womb, her latest passion has been teaching herself how to crochet! A skill that my brain has never comprehended!
One thing I have been trying to weave into her brain is self confidence. Something most of us struggle with. She would start a few stiches, not be able to figure it out and was over the project before it barely began. We got her one of those “wobbles” kits and and she got so frustrated-then the tears came. Sooo many tears. But I knew, with some pep talks and small steps, she could do what her heart desired. I said, “if you believe in yourself and take the time to learn and learn correctly, mama will take some of your pieces to a show or shop to sell.” Then she had some motivation!
We’ve been working together on what tools and supplies are used, skein types and sizes, hook styles, costs of all those things…she’s sooo interested in it all and excited! Last night she came up with a little business name, made some price tags, and is pumped to sell some of her best stuffies at the shop. She is getting better and better, some have more personality than others 😉 but she has learned so much the last few months, I am excited to see what else she can achieve. So, starting tomorrow, you will see some “Karlee’s Krafts!” Available in my kids corner. 🩵

Day one of the Spring Sioux Empire Arts & Crafts Show is in the books!
I am going to get REAL here. I am always real, but this post tonite isn’t a positive one 😳
These last couple years have been brutal for some small businesses. A fellow business owner friend sent me this image of the popular quote, “when you purchase from a small business, an actual person does a happy dance” now crossed off with “can pay their bills!”
I have seen sooo many small business owners close their doors. So many makers stop attending shows or closing their businesses all together. It’s heart breaking. Absolutely heart breaking. But I see why. It’s hard. So very hard to run your own business. Throw in a crumby economy, a pandemic, INFLATION, you have a recipe for disaster. You always hear, “support local, support small businesses,” but now, more than EVER, it’s crutial.
I broke away from my space tonite to take a few bucks I earned today to support those around me. A few crochet cuties, some local food truck tasties, and this fantastic wooden spoon with a doodle on it. You can’t find that in a big box store! Support support support! Don’t be surprised the next time you go to an event and you don’t see your regular vendor, they may not be back. It costs money/fees/taxes for vendors to attend the events, plus all the time and prep, supply costs. Some folks work full time and take work off to attend these events for their hobby business. Some travel from all over to take part. Just know, every small business is doing much more than a happy dance lately when they earn a sale. They are paying their bills. They are supporting their family. They are gaining more chances to do what they love, more hours to keep creating and a reason to keep coming back for events.
I am so very grateful for my business and community, and you my fellow friends and followers. I will be coming up on 13 years in business and am so very thankful for the continued support. Lets remember to keep spreading love. 😘
