🎉 We are thrilled to announce a generous gift from the James and Marlene Winker Charitable Trust to Bishop O'Gorman Catholic Schools!

✨ A total of $500,000 has been donated:

$250,000 to build our teacher and staff salary endowment
$250,000 for the benefit of O'Gorman High School (OGHS), placed in an endowment at the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation

James and Marlene Winker were passionate advocates of Catholic education and dedicated supporters of Bishop O'Gorman. We were honored to have four of their five children, all OGHS graduates, present at the event.

The Foundation was honored to attend the Senior Awards Mass this morning at O'Gorman High School. Bishop Donald E. DeGrood along with Fr. Tony Klein, the high school chaplain, celebrated Mass for the seniors and their families.

We also awarded several Foundation college scholarships including the Don and Jo Dougherty Scholarship, the Helen E. Miller Memorial Scholarship, the Msgr. James Michael Doyle USD Scholarship, the Heckenlaible Memorial Scholarship, the Bailey Aleksandr Lauret Memorial Scholarship, the Cooper Johnson & Jim Beddow O’Gorman Tennis Scholarship, and the Michael Barnett Memorial Scholarship/Outstanding Oral Interp Award (not pictured). Congratulations to the recipients and to all the graduates! May God bless you in all of your future endeavors!

Earlier today, the Foundation had the pleasure of awarding Nora Boetel with the Spirit of Michael Sieverding Award. Chosen by O’Gorman High School faculty and staff, this honor is bestowed upon an incoming senior who exemplifies the qualities that were exhibited by Michael Sieverding (Class of 2007) – well-rounded, hardworking, faith-filled, and a team player.

As the 2024 recipient of this award, Nora will receive a $1,000.00 credit for the 2024-2025 school year to be used towards tuition and/or the extracurricular activities of her choice. Congratulations, Nora!
