Department of South Dakota VFW hosted the state convention June 9 and10 in Spearfish, SD. Post 628 VFW Auxiliary John M Bliss Post 628 attended the events at convention.

Humboldt Sharpshooters will be serving a pancake breakfast in partnership with the VFW at the Alliance in Sioux Falls starting at 8:30am. Celebrate Father’s Day, our Veterans and youth shooting sports, PLEASE JOIN US!!

Tonight I was at the alliance serving chizlic doing Cootie things. When a young lady came in. Amy informed me afterwards that she had recognized her from about a year ago and that her brother had passed away. Today she was in there to fill out a card for her brother who had passed away this morning. Tragically she has lost 2 brothers both Army within a year to su***de. When will this madness end? Wednesday, John M Bliss VFW 628 Auxiliary visited REACH Literacy and donated 4 boxes of books collected on our Book Drive!!!

What a heart warming experience!! Besides donating our books, we were also able to purchase books at greatly reduced prices!! “Mascot Beckett” was able to select 5 free books and there was an additional box of Dolly Parton books that were free to select from.

All money goes back in to their program to assist with literacy needs.

The City of Sioux Falls announced that 911 services have been restored.

Update: 911 services begin to return across South Dakota The City of Sioux Falls announced on Wednesday night that Metro Communications is unable to receive 911 calls in Minnehaha County and Sioux Falls as of around 8:50 p.m.

Prolonged exposure is an evidence-based therapy that helps Veterans experiencing posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to gradually approach and address traumatic memories, feelings and situations.
