Severe weather today. Everyone should check and make sure their generator lights are Green! Got a feeling we may need them.
Just announced that another significant price increase on HVAC equipment will go into effect March 1 2024. Average increase of 8% this will make the total increase since 2020 approx 90%
Well the Generator market has been very soft for the last year due to the lack of storms (Thank Goodness). As a result the distributors are overstocked and are trying to clear the air cooled units out. We have received some unbelievable discounts on 22 and 24 KW units that will pretty much put pricing on them back to Pre-Inflation levels. If your thinking of getting one, now may be the time while these supplies last. Call for a free Estimate
I just wanted to put out a little info for a major upcoming change in the HVAC world that will affect EVERYONE that has an AC unit. Effective January 1st 2025 all new equipment will be required to have a new type of refrigerant as once again we are having to phase out the current refrigerant r410a. Different manufacturers have opted to use different refrigerants at this point. The two main refrigerants that will be in residential equipment will be either R454b or R32. The significance of this is that both of these refrigerants are classified as A2L refrigerants this means that they are "Mildly Flammable". Equipment using these types of refrigerants will be required to have Leak Detection sensors in them that will cause the fan to come on and run constantly in order to dissipate any refrigerant Vapor that may be present until the equipment can be serviced. This will cause a significant price increase in the equipment on top of the already exorbitant price increases that we've seen over the last couple of years. Furthermore it will pretty much eliminate the partial replacements that we've tried to do over the last few years. For example if you need a new condensing unit outside you will now have to replace your evaporator coil or your air handler since your old existing air handler or coil will not have the required sensors in it to accommodate the new condensing unit with the a2l refrigerant. The good news is that r410a will be available for many years and so will the parts for any units that have been installed or will be installed in the next year. For this reason I recommend that anyone who has a unit that is within two or three years of end of life seriously consider going ahead and pulling the trigger and getting a new r410a unit before those changes take effect. This will ensure that you will not have to deal with this problem for another complete cycle of your unit which should be around 15 years. We Include 10 years parts and labor on all of our new Bryant and Carrier unit installations.
Once the new regulations go into effect there will be a significant price increase again. I would ask that you bring this up in conversations with your friends and Neighbors and family as this is one of those things that the government does in the middle of the night with no public input and then you just get slapped in the face with it one day when the reality of it hits.
Proper insulation with an appropriately sized Bryant Evolution variable speed system provides superior results!
RINSE OUT YOUR CONDENSER COILS!!! Getting a tremendous number of panic calls for units not cooling simply because they have dirty outdoor coils. Many of these units CANNOT keep up on a 103 degree day as it is. Throw in a dirty outdoor coil and it might as well be turned off

Power went out last night in my neighborhood. The only reason I knew was because I had to go to the bathroom and heard the generator running. I went right back to sleep in the cool A/C. Not sure how long the power was off because it didn't matter.

It was just announced that new building requirements for St. Tammany, Mandeville, Covington, Tangipahoa and Slidell. All residential new construction permits pulled after 7/1/2023 will be subject to big and expensive changes. These changes are related to energy efficiency requirements. These changes will add signifigant costs to construction of new homes. Some of these include the requirement for a heat load calculation to be performed before the building permit can be pulled, R6 ductwork will no longer be allowed and must be R8. Insulation in the Attic will now be required to be R38. And the minimum requirement for the windows has been raised among other requirements too many to list here
So something has come up for the first time but twice in the last month and I feel its important to remind our Generator customers that have units installed where the Gas line and or power cable to the unit have been buried. The gas line and power cable that run from your service to the generator and are buried belong to you they are not public utilities. Therefore, if you have someone digging in your yard and they call 811 those lines will not be marked. It is imperative that the homeowner inform whoever is digging that those lines are there. If they are not informed and those lines are not marked they bear no responsibility legally should they hit one, and the cost for repair will fall solely on the homeowner. In the last month we have had a termite company using an auger to put in termite bait stations driving down 18 in with an auger and hitting the gas line six times over about 20 ft before the homeowner noticed the smell of gas. Then we had an irrigation company using a trenching machine cut the cable TV, the telephone, and the generator power line. In each case anyone with any infinitesimally small amount of intellect could have seen that there were things buried there and machinery should not have been used to dig in that area. However it is irrelevant since those companies were never warned and those lines were not marked the homeowner is responsible for the damage. Please don't shoot the messenger I was under the impression that if you hit something in the ground while you were digging then the responsibility was yours as a result I ran right out and did the repairs on both of these in order to get my customers problem resolved as quickly as possible. I was told that the companies that did the damage would pay the bill. In both cases after initially saying they would pay the repair cost they refused. One homeowner did the right thing and paid me for the repair the other one refused to pay and I got left on the hook. Therefore I will be reaching out to every generator customer that we have ever installed for who has lines buried and informing them. There will also be disclaimers on every generator invoice now stating this.

Well it continues. Due to the Department of Energy minimum efficiency standards increasing along with changes to how systems are rated, There was a significant price increase in HVAC equipment effective January 1st 2023. Some equipment saw a 90% increase in price to meet the new mandates. As if the inflation over the last couple of years was not enough. Now we have received word that there will be another 6% across the board price increase effective 2/28/2023. Where this stops nobody knows. As usual I will try to keep pricing as competitive as possible without a drop in service level.

The result of Metaverse for my business. Last night I posted a picture of a beautiful new furnace install we did on new construction. This morning I discovered that it was bombarded with negative comments. Not from customers or potential customers in our area. No these comments came from overseas several from some nitwit in Bangkok who of course is intricately familiar with American Construction techniques and furnace installationsđ€Ł. The facebook algorythym was set to only allow my business posts be seen by people within a confined geographic area. Apparently that's no longer the case my business page is now blanketed with constant ads from companies all over the world and I can't make heads or tails of my own business posts from having to sift through the constant barrage of garbage. I no longer spend any advertising money with Facebook where I used to find it to be quite a good source for new contacts. This is why you see that I rarely post anything anymore. The platform has become basically unusable for business unless you're interested in sending out spam.

They are coming for furnaces now. This will have a huge impact on our area. Because we don't use a lot of heat down here nearly all of our furnaces currently are 80% upgrading an 80% furnace to a 95% furnace can result in quite an expensive retrofit process due to the type of flu venting that has to be installed and figuring out how to remove the condensation from the furnace if the drain is not readily available for such a furnace already. Many houses will be extremely difficult to make this transition. That coupled with the fact that high-efficiency furnaces are roughly double in price even on the lowest priced ones. If you plan to build a new house I highly recommend getting ahead of this and installing a high-efficiency Furnace from the beginning. It will save you a lot of dollars years down the road when that unit has to be replaced.
The U.S. Department of Energy on Monday proposed new energy efficiency standards for residential gas furnaces. If finalized on DOE's proposed schedule, the new rule would go into effect in 2029 and require gas furnaces to be 95% fuel efficient.
