I met Caroline & Lisa at a wedding expo - we instantly clicked, and when they won my raffle for an Engagement Session I have to say, I was stoked. We had a lot of fun on this breezy Summer night (we got this done before the heatwave). More in the stories!

Got to attend the baby shower for my dear friends on yet another scorching hot day in Summer and it brought all the memories of their romantic August North Fork wedding in 2021. So excited for their baby boy’s arrival (which is anticipated around their anniversary!)

It’s weird to think at 14 I decided to fall in love with the guy who would be the ultimate life partner. Willing to do the WORK, in terms of being a provider AND partner. When we started a family he made it clear he isn’t just the Father that pays the bills. He isn’t just the ‘fun Dad’ - he’s the one learning their passions, the one having tough conversations, he’s the partner committed to growth and the Father committed to his family. Steve is a rare individual that challenges you to be better while also loving you where you’re at, which I think makes an optimal Dad.

Happy Father’s Day to the man who parents alongside me and that I’m so proud to call the Dad of our children.

On our way home from Maryland we stopped at in Philly, one of my FAVORITE thrift stores. Aside from finding Sawyer $12 Doc Martins I heard this group of friends looking through the thrift store photos together. They were talking about the people, their smiles, their clothes, giving life to the images in the store. Chappell Roan was playing and the whole scene was a total vibe - They let me take their photo and it brought me a lot of joy.

I wonder if they’ll look back
And know how I saw them -
Carefree, full of life, and love.
Moments that were new and became tradition,
Caught and frozen in time by Mom’s camera.
‘Mom’s a photographer’ they tell people, but do they see it? Will they see it when they look back on their childhoods captured within rule of thirds, on a f/3.4 with an ISO of 200 with 1/450 speed? Settings that depend on light and location.
I’m sure they won’t.
But I do hope they see, that they are loved. They are cherished. They are seen.

Photography is important, and I’m lucky to be here

On any given day you can ask me my favorite part of my job, and it’s always the same answer. My favorite part of being a wedding photographer/photographer in general is simple: anthropology. I meet so many families and people and learning their backgrounds and relationships is a treat. What songs gather all of the cousins on the dance floor, or what meal brings a smaller family around the table. Who’s on the memorial table and why are they so greatly missed. The stories and traditions, the testimonies, the love. Getting to witness and learn is something I feel so privileged over.

What’s even better is that in 2024 I get to keep following along on social media. Some wedding clients become legacy clients and I learn little things, like how today is Sue & Roy’s 40th wedding anniversary. These two have been parents of the bride twice - well with three weddings (this will always be special) and guests at another wedding last year. The weird and wonderful part of my job is having this anthology of families. I have images and stolen moments all catalogued of people who would have been strangers otherwise.

This family has always been a joy to work with, I’ve even shown up super early to prep because they’re just too kind. So Happy Anniversary Sue & Roy! And thank you to the Brides Molly & Kelly who let me into your stories and let me get to know your amazing family through the years!
