☯️ Here’s 7 tips: 1. Aim for a consistent sleep time from roughly 10 PM to 6 AM. 2. Support your circadian rhythm by getting outside in the sunlight as early as possible. 3. Avoid bright lights and screens after sunset. 4. Exercise in the a.m. or early afternoon. 5. Meditation. 6. Naps. 7. No caffeine after 2pm.

☯️ Have you ever calculated how much glyphosate you might be ingesting in a given month? What’s your bread, cereal, and oatmeal intake like? Is your chicken battered in flour or coated with breadcrumbs? How often do you eat from restaurants (98% of which use canola or soybean oils)? How often do you eat conventionally farmed meat which is fed a diet high in gmo wheat and corn?

☯️ Real food spoils pretty quickly. The longer the shelf life, the further away from a real food it is. And the further away from real health you’ll be.

☯️ Never allow yourself to be tricked into thinking that alcohol can be healthy. Be honest with yourself. It is what it is.
☯️ If you decide to drink anyway, there are plenty of steps that can be taken to minimize its effects. But, either way, it’s a net drain.

☯️ I would add that Raw (unpasteurized and un-homogenized) dairy would be the healthiest option if available in your state.

☯️ Sounds like a no-brainer, but how many decisions are made (or not made) out of fear? Changing jobs, staying with a subpar partner, continuing relationships with toxic family members, not pursuing the silliest of your dreams, etc.

☯️ Meditation never promised to decrease your stressors. That’s virtually impossible.
☯️ However, meditation will increase your resilience to those stressors.

☯️ Too cold for outdoor sprints? Try them indoors on a treadmill. But don’t turn it on…that’s way too hairy and there’s zero explosiveness.
☯️Keep the treadmill off and drive the belt yourself by leaning forward. Once you get up to top speed, stand up taller with good posture.
☯️ Try intervals of 15 seconds on (full bore). And 60 seconds of recovery. Repeat 5-10 times. Wipe down the machine. Then go home.
No fat shaming here. Also not advocating for being skinny. The perfect shirt would read “F*CK SKINNY. F*CK HUGE. GET HEALTHY AND LOVE YOURSELF”.

☯️ This is actually not a quote from a guru. It’s from one of my clients, speaking to his daughter as he dropped her off for her freshman year of college. It’s just sound advice for time management.

☯️ Ask yourself if you’re taking the easy/convenient/comfortable way out. Actually, some of these “easy” choices seem like hard ones for me. For instance, I find it much easier to be open minded. How about you?

☯️ HEALTH HACK PART 2:
☯️ We Definitely indulged in some decadence at the Port Jeff Dickens Festival today. But we did start off on the healthy side, “tailgating” in the parking lot with some leftover skirt steak and roasted potatoes. And finished off with a healthy-er option for dinner.
🤷🏼♂️ We tried our best…
☯️ HEALTH HACK:
Knowing that the Smithtown Tree Lighting Ceremony would be chock full of unhealthy temptations like hot chocolate, cookies and pretzels… we decided to make our own healthy, hot chocolate at home, and pack healthier versions of cookies and candy canes with us. Our kids had the same good time as the other kids, only without all of the food dies, antibiotics, high fructose corn syrup, and refined oils.
☯️ Which is more important:
Wasting unhealthy food or wasting your own health on that food?
☯️ Throw that food in the garbage where it belongs. Starving kids in China don’t need cheesecake. It might just eff them up even more.

☯️ Jumping right back into healthy eating. We have a few leftovers, but Thanksgiving doesn’t have to be a week-long o**y of sugar and gravy. Plus, wifey makes a bangin’ chicken soup from scratch!

☯️ Never too old to try new things….for instance dislocating a pinky.
☯️ No ice or anti-inflammatories though (unless the pain becomes unbearable).
Why? Because inflammation is not the enemy. That’s the body’s way of healing by sending repair cells to the injury site.
☯️ Icing and anti-inflammatories can restrict, delay or water down that healing process. It’s like firemen trying to respond to a fire, but some of the roads are closed and there’s holes in the firehose.
☯️ Also, by numbing the pain, I don’t get a clear picture of what really hurts the injury. How will I know if I’m doing something I’m not supposed to, which could further aggravate it?
☯️ I’m not saying I NEVER ice or use anti-inflammatories. But it certainly should not be a knee jerk response to an injury.

10 Things I learned during the hardest month of my life:
1. This just in….Meditation helps
2. Sometimes people you love wait until they’re at the end of their road to say the things you’ve waited a lifetime for.
3. Appreciate the hell out of your kids
4. Apparently, I get constipated during stress (the Gut/Brain Axis is real!)
5. Keep your focus and stay strong, but allow your emotions to fully express themselves, especially in the right setting.
6. I apparently don’t have an audible cry, even if I don’t hold back and let go all the way. 🤷🏼♂️
7. Having family and support around REALLY helps.
8. Traditional medicine in this country has its downfalls, but we still need to take advantage of scientific advancements, especially in diagnostics.
9. I’m supposed to be near family. Where you’re planted is where you grow.
10. When people die, we tend to minimize their shortcomings and highlight their attributes. Maybe we shouldn’t wait so long for that…
