There's a couple of things we want you to be aware of with Easter holiday right around the corner. Easter Lilies and chocolate are common items during this time, but did you know??? Both are of these are poisonous to cats and dogs. Easter Lilies in particular are very dangerous to cats whether they were to lick pollen off their fur or ingest any of the leaves. Be sure to enjoy your holiday and keep your pets safe!

Nails trims can be a stressful part of owning a dog for both you and your doggy friend. However they don't have to be! There are ways to ensure success and even a dog who looks forward to seeing the nail trimmers. Of course, puppy age is the best time to begin working with your dog on nail trims, but it is never to late to begin either. August is Itchy Pet Awareness month! There are three main causes for itchiness in pets: fleas, environment, and food. Luckily we have things to help all three! Give us a call today to schedule some anti-itch therapeutics.

We hope that you are enjoying your summer weather! One thing to help ensure that your doggy friend is also having a good summer is to be aware of the signs of heat stroke. Some things to watch out for could include: heavy panting and difficulty breathing, excessive drooling, lethargy, drowsiness or uncoordinated movement, and collapsing or vomiting. The best ways to prevent heat stroke are to make sure you don't leave your dog in a hot car, provide adequate shade and water to dogs that spend a lot of time outdoors, and be mindful of the dog's exercise on hot days. If you do observe any signs of heat stroke consult your local veterinarian immediately as this can be a very serious condition.

Make sure that your pet is up to date on their annual wellness exam! Why? Did you know that your pet needs a current annual wellness exam for medication refills or requests? Don't be caught in a pinch without medication because of an out of date wellness exam. You can visit our client portal through our website to see your pet's status on exams or give us a call!

Did you know that May is inflammation awareness month? Now, we know it’s not May anymore, but it’s definitely not too late to watch out for signs of inflammation since our pets are often more active during summer months. We love our pets and so naturally we want to make sure that they are comfortable. Some signs of inflammation could include difficulty climbing or descending stairs, difficulty jumping up on things, difficulty standing back up, and slowing down on walks. These are not all the symptoms but just a few to watch out for at home. Follow the QR codes for more information about osteoarthritis and inflammation!

We are about one month out from the 4th of July and you know what that means! The fireworks and potentially "scary" noises for our pets will be happening soon! There's good news though.
You can start the process of desensitization now and make significant progress by the holiday. Start by playing a soft audio of fireworks for your pet while praising them, freely giving them treats, and other types of positive reinforcement that your pet finds rewarding. Repeat this ritual in several short (30 sec-3 min) sessions per day. Your pet will actually come to associate the sounds with good and even desirable things!

Veterinary Assistant/Customer Service Representative

Looking for empathetic souls that are champions for pet care.
We are a privately owned, busy, 3 doctor, small animal practice in beautiful, bucolic Snohomish. Team members are heavily cross-trained to improve the customer experience and to empower themselves. Some of the most important characteristics in an ideal applicant are the ability to handle stress well, the willingness to learn, attention to detail, a great work ethic, and a great attitude. As an integral team member, you will be responsible for the pet’s care from arrival to egress. As such, your responsibilities will include:

Client Communications: answering phones, scheduling appointments, pet visit follow-up calls, and other client interactions
Checking in your patient, including carrying pets if needed (must be able to lift 40 lbs)
Gathering and entering medical history into the practice management software
Keeping animals and humans safe through proper restraint for exams and treatments
Entering medical notes for the exam
Performing venipuncture and collecting samples for diagnostics
Filling Medications
Creating and reviewing discharge instructions with the client
Checking out clients and helping patients out to the car
Caring for hospitalized pets and administering treatments
Placing intravenous catheters and assisting with induction for surgery/dentals
Anesthetic monitoring
Obtaining radiographs and dental radiographs
Walk and care for hospitalized patients
Helping to maintain a sanitary and well stocked environment for our pets and co-workers

We are happy to train eager individuals. Customer service experience is a plus. Certified veterinary assistants pay will be higher. Our company culture rewards professional growth. We are happy to help assist you with any further training or educational reimbursements.
