I can't stress this enough; If you are painting historical period ceramics learn what types of brushes were used. Then practice the brush stokes, until you mastered them, and then paint. The painting will go much smoother and quicker than using a paint by number style. It okay to draw guidelines to set up your image. But when you go to paint let the brush do the work for you . You will get a closer result to the original style you are . It makes a difference for me, especially in Maiolica and Iznik styles.
