Newest update on Baby Sawyer
https://www.freefunder.com/campaign/help-for-the-bensons
It seems Midwives are in the crosshairs again... if they can't shut down our profession by getting rid of our board then how about hit us all financially.
Our practice is made up of over 50% Medicaid clients so of course this hits us. They are reaching as far back as 2016 with asking for repayment (when this is completely in our scope and they've been paying the same code for years). Please consider a small donation. We are all tired of fighting but know we cannot give in.
Any of our mamas have some milk they'd like to donate to a mama running a little low?

Many of my clients know this sweet family that is dear to my heart. This is their 3rd baby with me and it has been one wild ride. They've been dealt blow and blow between illness, finding out their baby will likely need some help as he grows up and now emergent surgery after a kidney stone blocked up her kidney and she went septic. She is still in the ICU and her hubby is trying to finish up a roofing job to be available for her and the kids. We will be posting a go fund me as soon as I get a minute (4 kids take constant supervision! Lol). In the meantime one way people can help is with a few freezer meals. The family is trying to be gluten free and dye free and it's much appreciated if meals can follow that dietary plan.
Please drop meals at the clinic tues and Thursdays 9-3. Or text me and I'll try to meet up.

Before and After! It's been a Labor of Love for sure!
Anyone want some free rhubarb?
My son got married this past weekend and I definitely felt all of this!
BOY-MOMS
You always hear about a girl’s daddy “giving his daughter away” on her wedding day.
I had never thought much about the mommas and their sons.
But y’all mommas give away something too.
Something just as precious.
Something I knew I would never get back.
I gave away being the one he hugs and kisses
I gave away being the one he looks for in a crowd
I gave away being the first person he turns to when things get tough
I gave away being the one he makes laugh in the middle of day
I gave away being his number one girl
I gave away a piece of my heart
I gave away my son
Deep down I know he will always love me but I also know he loves her more.
He loves her more than his momma and that’s okay. That’s how I knew he had found the one.
But isn’t that what we want? We want them to marry a girl who they will put first even if it means we become second.
Mommas,
Love him while you are still first.
Kiss his sweet baby face and linger in those lanky teenage hugs.
Drive him to school even when he is grumpy and doesn’t say a word to you.
Listen when he needs to vent and blow off steam.
Love on his friends.
Bring the motrin to school for the 100 thousandth time. He may have a headache OR he may just want to get out of class and chat with you for a minute.
Sit next to his hospital bed even though he screwed up.
Soak up every minute under those Friday night lights.
Love him, forgive him and forgive yourself for the things you didn’t get right.
Because one day, you will give him away....
You will stand and watch him give his heart to the love of his life.
You will dance and he will say the sweetest things about who he has become because of you.
He will hug you tight and it will feel a little bit like a goodbye.
You will become his second-best girl and it will be so dang HARD.

These first time moms are rocking it! Listening to your body, your instincts to birth your baby... your way! Love it!
Proof it's never too late to find a provider willing to listen and respect you! 💗
Beautifully said!
I've been thinking a lot about how we as sweet humans struggle to hold multiple truths at once. How the Feminine continuously reminds me that Women hold the all of everything. We preach the brutality of birth and Motherhood so frequently in our culture. I will be the first to speak to the raw, gritty truths of this transition. Yet we forget how tenderness so equally resides here. The moments of Love, kissing, laughter, joy, and ecstasy. To be given the space to say "This is the hardest thing I've ever done" and simultaneously, softly cry out the birth of the placenta as we end one chapter and begin another. To feel the deepest exhaustion of your life in the sacred postpartum and to implode with Mother's Love when you get that good latch and watch your baby grow from the nutrients of your own body.
Both and, both and ✨️
Mama's Hands https://wix.to/5N5b1TI
Mama's Hands (a tribute to my mother) Though it has been almost 25 years since you have been gone, I still remember your hands. The creases, the ridges and dimples I thought made you look so old! Now I realize those hands had seen some things. They had held your mama's hand as a child, they had held your babies that were born for this e...

Happy International Day of the Midwife! You can't do this work for very many years without meeting some incredible, strong, fierce women along the way. As I reflect on my 17 years in this profession I can't even count how many amazing midwives I have met (and that doesn't even account for the midwives for my own babies)! No two personalit...

What IS a Midwife anyway? I don't know if there is as much confusion surrounding other professions as I hear about with Midwifery. Are we Doula's? OB's? Hippies who chant? Witches? The truth is we are none of those things (well some might claim to be a couple of those) :). Midwives specialize in Normal Pregnancy, Birth and P...
