Dance Studio M is committed to the quality dance training that we provide to each of our students. W We accommodate dancers age 3-18 from beginner to advanced!

Dance Studio M has been serving the City of Solon and surrounding areas with excellent dance instruction for the past 15 years. Located on the corner of Bainbridge Rd and Solon Rd our brand new beautiful facility is easily accessible from the freeway. With 3 studios, one of which boasting 1300 square feet, our dancers are able to take advantage of excellent instruction in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, acro and pointe!

About DSM

Dance Studio M is committed to the quality dance training that we provide to each of our students. We are dedicated to finding the creative artist that lies within each dancer. Our focus is to provide the highest quality service by the personal attention, encouragement and support we give to each student.

Dance is a beneficial activity to anyone who chooses to participate. Not only does it build self-esteem and confidence, but it is a fantastic way to stay active. All forms of dance provide an excellent way for students to interact with others within their age range who share a similar interest.

Dance Studio M recently moved to a new location on the corner of Bainbridge Road and Solon Road in Solon, OH. Our beautiful new space contains 3 studios. 2 of the studios are 800 square feet with ceilings measuring 16 feet high. The largest studio is 1,300 square feet with a 22 foot ceiling. All studios boast beautiful, large windows for ample natural light. Additionally, we have a closed circuit video system that allows parents to watch their dancer from a TV in one of our waiting areas.

Dance Studio M offers a variety of classes classes for dancers ages 3-18. Our season runs September to June each year with and additional 5 week summer session. We have classes in all genres like, ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical and acro.

Several DSM staff are certified by Acrobatic Arts, ensuring dancers have the best and safest acro instruction.

We value giving our dancers the opportunity to share their creativity and choreography. With that, DSM offers a Choreography and Composition class where dancers can learn about choreographic tools and strategies. Additionally, dancers have the opportunity to take part in the Student Choreography Program in which dancers over the age of 12 can sign up to present an original choreography idea. Upon approval, the dancer(s) will form a cast and rehearse outside of the studio with monthly presentations to ensure they are on track. These student choreography pieces perform in our DSM Showcase.

Competition

Dance Studio M has a strong competition program with nearly 20 teams for multiple ability levels and genres. We compete in the genres of contemporary, jazz, hip hop, acro and tap. The competition teams practice all year with 3 additional weeks of intensive and pre-season rehearsals in August. The teams compete at 3 competitions in Northeast Ohio during the winter and early spring months. They also perform their dances in both the DSM Showcase and Recital.

Additionally, we offer an Extras program within the competition team. During the competition team audition process, dancers can choose to be considered for a solo, duo or trio. These small groups, or ‘extras,’ rehearse for the year and compete in all 3 competitions. They also perform in the DSM Showcase.

Mini and Junior Program

The Mini and Junior teams are intended to be stepping-stones into the competition program. These teams are for some of out youngest dancers and are by teacher recommendation only. Each team learns two dances, one of which is a combined Mini/Junior tap piece. This dance will perform in the DSM Showcase. The separate Mini and Junior pieces will be learned in the winter and performed in the recital. Both individual team dances and the combined tap dance will perform in one competition.

Littles Program

The Littles Program is another way for young dancers to perform. Dancers age 10 and under may participate. Dancers in the Littles Program learn one dance that is performed in the DSM Showcase. Dancers in the Mini and Junior Programs can also be in the Littles program.

Dance Studio M offers two yearly performances. First, the DSM Showcase occurs in late January, early February. This showcase includes all competition pieces, Extras, Student Choreography Program, and Mini, Junior, and Littles dances. This showcase is meant to give the competition teams and extras a chance to perform before competing. It is also the final showing of the Student Choreography Program and an opportunity for some of our younger dancers on the Mini, Junior, and Littles teams to perform. Second, the end-of-year recital occurs at the beginning of June and showcases all class and group competition dances.
