5 pasture raised pork available now!! These are Mangalitsa pigs; some say it is the Kobe beef of pork.
We do set our pigs out in a pasture which is rotated every week to 2 weeks. So they get to nibble on the acorns and pine cones and anything else they find out there. They are in the grass as well. Although pigs don't do very well as just grass-fed so we supplement with another feed, we get from a local grain dryer. It is not an organic feed. It is a GMO free feed. We are not a certified organic ranch yet. It will be available to us next year. We are working on getting that organic certification.
We attached other pictures to give you an idea on how much pork you get with whole vs. half, and also howuch freezer space you would need. Of course all pigs are different so the amount of pounds you take home may vary. We try for roughly 250lbs at time of slaughter.
Mangalitsa Pork: A Superior Buttery Flavour
A descendent of the European wild boar and cousin of the black foot Iberian Pig, the Mangalitsa pig incorporates highly desirable qualities from both, yielding a very versatile meat.
A high monosaturated fat content makes the pork ideal for curing and charcuterie, from pancetta to salami. While, when it comes to cooking, Mangalitsa pork is equally prized for the tender juicy meat it produces which requires minimal seasoning, or even the lard is equally popular.
