Anyone can develop COPD, and while people 40 or older who are current or former smokers have a higher risk of developing the disease, 1 in 4 people who develop COPD never smoked! Secondhand smoke, air pollution, and workplace exposures to dust fumes and chemicals are also risk factors for COPD.

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Lung cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in both men and women but the most common cause of cancer death, leading to more deaths in 2020 than breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers combined. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2023, an estimated 238,340 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer -- and Rotech stands ready to help!
