Jalaj Bhatt of Basking Ridge and Niyati Patel of Branchburg have brought the flavors of home to their diasporic lives, cooking various Indian foods from their childhoods in Bombay and Gujarat for their family and friends.
Bhatt grew up loving Bombay street food and has incorporated the flavors of Bombay into her cooking, raising two kids who love chaat food (Indian street food). Patel grew up in Amdavad, frequently eating at the original Honest food stalls, which has continued to inspire her cooking, raising two children who love Amdavad-style cuisine.
The two have since decided to expand their childhood love for Indian-style street food, bringing the Honest franchise to Somerville, right off of the busy 206 highway. They welcome passers by and local lovers of Indian cuisine to relish in their nostalgia through an Indian-style, street food inspired experience.
