**SLICK ROADS POSSIBLE FOR YOUR THURSDAY MORNING COMMUTE**
I want to preface this post with this is NOT the snow connected to the winter storm watch! That goes into effect late tomorrow night. Tonight's snow develops after 10pm and through the overnight hours before moving out tomorrow morning. 1-3" of new snow likely with this system. The timing could provide some slick spots on the roads for your Thursday morning commute. Plan for extra time! This system moves out tomorrow afternoon.

Local plumbers give tips on how to prevent frozen pipes lf you want to keep the water running at home experts tell ABC57 keeping your home warm is one of the best ways to prevent frozen pipes this winter.
π―:π°π± π£.π . ππ’π‘πππ§ππ’π‘ π¨π£πππ§π | The snow has stopped... but driving conditions are less than ideal at this hour. Our advice from this morning still stands: if you don't need to go out today... stay home.
We have responded to 13 accidents so far today.
Many intersections are slick... and the freezing temperatures aren't helping.
Please use caution if travelling this afternoon/evening.
Merry Christmas
This is why we tell you to secure outdoor decorations on windy days! Sgt. Ted Bohner with Indiana State Police shared this photo of a giant Christmas bulb in the middle of the road he had to move. I wonder what Iβll find in my yard when the sun rises tomorrow morning π In all seriousness, be careful out there tonight. We are hearing the roads are getting slick and icy,
The National Weather Desk
Even for seasoned drivers, the snow we see Monday will still cause some issues on the roads. The time of greatest concern will be Monday afternoon and evening, but also lingering overnight for areas dealing with lake-effect snow bands.

Over the past few days, you may have seen some posts circulating on Facebook, warning you about Appleβs new NameDrop feature on iOS 17.
While we should always remain vigilant about the information being shared from our smartphones and our childrenβs smartphones, we want to address some rumors and explain why this feature may not be as scary as some posts are making it out to be:
π₯π¨π π’π₯: When NameDrop is enabled, people can retrieve your contact information simply by walking past you.
ππππ§: While the NameDrop feature allows for the sharing of contact information (name, photo, phone number email address, etc.) between devices, the devices need to be a few centimeters away from each other for the feature to work.
π₯π¨π π’π₯: Even if the devices are close enough to enable NameDrop, users have no idea when or what type of personal information is being exchanged.
ππππ§: In order to send any information, you have to physically tap "share" to exchange contact information. Even then, you are prompted to select what type of information you want to send. Alternatively, you can choose to only receive contact information without sharing your own. Additionally, NameDrop does not work when devices are locked.
π₯π¨π π’π₯: Once NameDrop is initiated, it cannot be stopped.
ππππ§: To cancel NameDrop at any time, you can just swipe from the bottom of the display, lock your device or move your device away if the connection has not been established.
π₯π¨π π’π₯: This technology can be used to get contact information from children or people unfamiliar with technology.
ππππ§: We will say there's some validity to this claim. If, for example, a child or a person without the ability to read or understand functions on a device, is asked to NameDrop, they may agree to send their contact details, without understanding the prompt on their phone. Parents and caregivers should assess whether this feature is appropriate on their child or loved one's device.
π₯π¨π π’π₯: This function is automatically enabled in the new iOS 17 update.
ππππ§: This is true. If you wish to disable it, navigate to Settings > General > Airdrop > Toggle the "Bringing Devices Together" sharing option button to the off position.
Above all, if there is a feature on your phone or your child's phone that makes you uncomfortable...OR...you just don't understand it fully, disable it. You can always turn it back on in the future, should you wish to use it.
Happy Thanksgiving
Don't miss the partial solar eclipse this weekend! Up to 50-60% totality!πππππ
THAT TIME OF YEAR: As the cold air filters in tomorrow through the weekend, remind your friends and family to switch over the fans! As we move into the colder months, you want CLOCKWISE on your fan. This will help even out the cool air at the bottom of the room with the warmer air at the top (warm air rises, cool air sinks). The opposite is effective in the warm months.
Science is fun... and can save you a few bucks!! :)

Hey, University of Notre Dame Police, do you guys have something going on over there today? Seems pretty busy and kinda loud on your campus right nowβ¦ π
In all seriousnessβ¦ ππ§'π¦ πππ ππππ¬β¦ and itβs a big one.
The Irish take on Ohio State at 7:30 p.m.
While weβd usually ask you to prepare for increased traffic around campus right before and after the gameβ¦ letβs be real. Itβs going to be busy all dayβ¦ so if you arenβt heading to Notre Dame to take part in the festivities, you may just want to avoid the area today.

Inbound one-way traffic patterns for the game will start approximately three-and-a-half hours before kickoff.

Outbound traffic patterns will be in effect for two hours after the game.
SBPD officers will be assisting with traffic control at our intersections near campus. We look forward to seeing lots of happy fans todayβ¦ (even the ones wearing red). π
Have fun and be safe, everyone!

REMINDER: School buses will be back on the roads tomorrow morning as South Bend Community School Corporation students head back to class! π
Our officers will be on the lookout for drivers going around school buses that have their flashing red lights activated and stop arms extended.
To the students, teachers and parents... have a great year!

Mr. Tamkeβs office sure has been a help in a time when my financial stability was quickly slipping away. With no clue of how to stop the downfall or where I might find assistance I asked a couple I know about where I might start to look.
Mr. Tamke was recommended to me and though it was hard work and sure discipline, it has been worth it. I would recommend Mr. Tamkeβs law office if youβre looking for assistance to get financially back on track.
I found them to be honest, fair and upfront. Easy to contact and timely with responses. Also they are local and treated me well as their client.
I thank you and your staff Mr. Tamke.
