I interrupt your regular social media content for a virtual talent show! I’ll go first, as long as you join me in the comments!

I can make you feel like YOU again. 😱

This client came to me knowing something was off but couldn’t quite figure it out. She had a typical case of “Mom Posture”.

Your posture line (plumb line) should be ear stacked over shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle. In the second picture, she has a forward head, her shoulders are behind her hips and knees, which causes her belly to protrude forward and a lot of lumbar extension (and saggy butt syndrome). 🍑 Essentially, she’s hanging on the ligaments instead of using her core/hips/leg muscles to keep her upright.

Are you always going to move around with perfect posture? No. But can awareness of your posture help you decrease pain, increase muscle activation, and help you feel a bit more like yourself? YES.

I see you straightening and aligning right now.

Lifting weights during pregnancy, when done safely can offer several benefits:

💪 Improved Strength and Endurance: Weightlifting helps maintain and improve muscle strength and endurance, which can be especially beneficial as your body undergoes changes during pregnancy.

💪 Better Posture and Balance: Strengthening core and stabilizing muscles can contribute to better posture and balance, which can be helpful as your center of gravity shifts with your growing belly.

💪 Lifting weights can actually help reduce Discomfort: Building muscle strength can alleviate common pregnancy discomforts like back pain, pelvic pain, and fatigue by providing better support for your changing body.

💪 Preparation for Labor: Enhanced physical fitness can make labor and delivery more manageable by increasing your stamina and ability to cope with the physical demands of childbirth.

💪 Mood Improvement: Exercise, including weightlifting, releases endorphins, which can help combat mood swings and reduce stress and anxiety during pregnancy.

💪 Faster Postpartum Recovery: Maintaining strength and fitness throughout pregnancy may contribute to a quicker postpartum recovery and easier return to pre-pregnancy fitness levels.

Always consult with your doctor before any type of exercise while pregnant. These tips are not a one size fits all situation.

If you are approved to lift weights, contact Dr. Arienne today to learn more about how she can help and train you.

Have we met? Hi! I’m Doctor Arienne and I'm on a mission to normalize postpartum care for women.

Because pregnancy and birth is A LOT on the body and women are expected just to "life" and be Mom immediately without taking care of themselves also.

And the truth is it shouldn't be that way.

Visiting a physical therapist (or OT!) that works with pelvic health can be tremendously beneficial when you are postpartum. I can help you reconnect with your body after birth.

Was this helpful? Drop a 💜 to let me know! And if you have questions, be sure to drop those too 🤗

What's considered "normal" for urination frequency can vary widely among women and may be influenced by factors like fluid intake, age, overall health, and individual differences. However, on average, most healthy adults urinate about 4-8 times per day. This typically includes both daytime and nighttime urination.

🚽 Daytime Urination: Most people urinate every 3-4 hours during the day. If you find yourself needing to urinate significantly more often than this, it could be due to factors like excessive fluid intake, behavioral patterns, bladder irritants, pelvic floor weakness, urinary tract infections, or overactive bladder.

🚽 Nighttime Urination: It's normal for adults to wake up to urinate once during the night, especially as they get older. However, frequent nighttime urination (nocturia), where you wake up to urinate two or more times a night, can be a sign of various health conditions and should be discussed with a healthcare provider.

Pay attention to your body's signals and what's typical for you. If you experience a sudden change in urination frequency, pain or discomfort while urinating, blood in the urine, or other concerning symptoms, it's important to consult with a healthcare professional.

If you’re concerned about your pelvic floor, send me a message, I can help you!

This is one of the most frequently asked questions when I receive calls from postpartum women😿

It’s never too late to correct your pelvic floor.

Yes, the pelvic floor muscles can be strengthened and improved YEARS after giving birth.🤰

💪 The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that provide support to the pelvic organs, including the bladder, uterus, and re**um.

🌸 Pregnancy and childbirth can put significant strain on these muscles, leading to issues like urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, and decreased muscle tone.

The good news is that I can help you, let’s talk!

I’m working on a 6 week core and pelvic floor foundation program for ALL postpartum women - if you want guidance on how to heal your postpartum body, comment “YES” below or shoot me a DM and I will send you a code for 15% off!

Listen up, you don’t have to live your life wondering if you can leave the house without peeing your pants. I’m here to help ⤵️

✔️Do your Pelvic Floor Exercises: Strengthening your pelvic floor muscles can help improve bladder control and reduce urinary leakage. A physical therapist or specialized pelvic floor therapist can guide you on proper techniques. Are there kegels? Sometimes! Is it all about the kegel? NOPE! You learn how to move well, build a STRONG core, pelvic floor and hip complex, and manage pressure appropriately! The kegel is such a TINY part of a much BIGGER picture!

✔️Hydration and Diet: Stay hydrated, but be mindful of bladder irritants such as caffeine and alcohol. These substances can contribute to urinary urgency and leakage.

✔️Bladder Training: Gradually increasing the time between bathroom visits can help train your bladder to hold more urine and reduce the frequency of leaks.

✔️Maintain a Healthy Weight: Extra weight can put additional pressure on the bladder and pelvic floor muscles. Maintaining a healthy weight through a balanced diet and regular exercise may help reduce stress urinary incontinence.

Remember, always seek professional guidance to determine the most suitable approach for your specific situation. A healthcare provider, like myself, can provide a personalized treatment plan to address your concerns and improve your quality of life.

Prevention is key. Our holistic approach not only treats existing issues but equips you with the knowledge and tools to prevent future injuries.

08/18/2023

But first, a quick story for you…

My client Amanda came to me in pain and had no idea that there were preventative measures she could have been taking before giving birth. Amanda shared,

“Arienne is absolutely incredible and helped me so much on my postpartum journey. My only regret is not knowing the importance of this before and during my pregnancy. She was immensely helpful to me and I can only imagine how much better my postpartum recovery would have been had I known and worked on everything she taught me before becoming pregnant and throughout my pregnancy.

If you're on the fence as to whether or not this [Prenatal Prescription course] is an important part of your journey and postpartum recovery, trust me, it is crucial, go for it.”
The takeaway? You don’t have to wait to give birth to start exercising and preparing your body.

I love a good HIIT class, or bootcamp, and they can be an excellent way to get yourself moving and get your heart rate pumping, but group fitness classes are also a place where quantity often takes precedence over quality, and “no pain no gain” is a popular mentality. The problem with quantity over quality is that your movements are predominantly momentum based, with no emphasis on the mechanics of movement. In order to keep up with the pace of the class, we rely abundantly on quick compensatory strategies (like sticking your hands under your butt when you’re performing flutter kicks). This can easily lead to pain and pressures in areas that are taking the brunt of forces, and overall breakdown of the joints and muscles. Learning the foundations of movement and implementing them in your workouts can help alleviate aches and pains and minimize risk of injury.

“I visited three physical therapists before finding her. She knows what she's doing, has a strong background on postpartum issues, and she has all the patience in the world to explain everything to you. She's the best, hands down! I'm very grateful for everything she taught me. Thank you so much!”

Since then, it has become my mission to help women get in tune with their bodies, prepare for birth and the changes that occur throughout and after pregnancy, reconnect on a neuromuscular level, and heal themselves in a way that allows them to optimize their function and their fitness levels while rebuilding trust and confidence in themselves and their abilities.

As a physical therapist, fitness enthusiast, and mother, I found a purpose that was deeply personal to me, as I invested time, energy and expenses into rehabilitating my OWN core and pelvic floor.

During your pregnancy, work with a doctor who has been there and cares about you and your baby.

Send me a message. I’m here for you!
