SSFAC Begins Cup Play in January !!
South San Francisco A.C. having just secured a 4th place finish in the Pacific Premier League of the SWPL, now turns its attention to the 2024 Abronzino Cup.

Twelve teams are entered in the Cup which begins play next month. Group Stage play finds SSF playing 3 games in the First Round.

SSFAC continues their Pre-Season Training as they ready themselves for the fall season in the SWPL.

Training will take place EVERY Thursday Night at Silver Terrace Fields, located at 1700 Silver Avenue in San Francisco. Training begins promptly at 7:45pm

SSF United YSL is in need of Coaches for their Fall Season which begins 9/16 to 10/28....pay included. In particular a coach is need for 1 U8 Team and 1 U6 team. If you can help out the best youth program in San Mateo County, please respond here or at their programs website.... www.ssfsoccer.net

SSFAC closed out a very successful 1st season recently in the Pacific Premier League of the SWPL, with a 5th place finish in the 10 team division. South City had a record of 10 wins, 6 losses and 2 ties in a very competitive regular season. Strong defensive play from Martin Wright, Bob Weger, Sam Nadell, Kevin Ma, & Sully Donohue was one of the strong points of the team along with outstanding goalkeeping from Adrian Monroy who had 4 shutouts on the year.
Midfield play was very important in the style of play of this hard working group....led by Kian Katanforoosh, Brendan Cadam, Aidan Durgerian, Greg Hui, Felipe Gonzalez, & Miguel Franco. SSF's most versatile player, Carlos Ballesteros was a threat in the lone striker position as he came up with big goals and numerous assists to help power the team to 45 goals on the year.
SSFAC will return to action in late August when preparation begins for the Fall season in the SWPL. Player Coach Gareth Lea hopes to have a full complement of players back to make another run for the top spot in the Pacific Premier League

SSFAC completed their 2 game sweep of Modesto City FC with a 5-1 win on Saturday afternoon at El Camino High School. Coming off their previous win in Modesto last week, SSF had a strong effort as the team was shorthanded due to injuries. Back up goalkeeper Dean Gardiner was terrific in holding Modesto to one tally as he filled in for injured Adrian Monroy. The defense was led by Martin Wright, Kevin Ma, Bob Weger & Sully Donohue.
Wright got on the score sheet by converting a penalty kick in the 32nd minute and teammates Sam Nadell with 2, and Greg Hui, and Aidan Durgerian each contributing 1 in the big win.
South City next takes the field when they travel to Estuary Park in Alameda to face the very tough Bay Area United on Sunday, February 26th at 8:00pm.
The top spot in the Pacific Premier League of the SWPL remains a tight race between JASA RWC, Juventus Academy Silicon Valley, Santa Clara Sporting as well as Bay Area United and SSFAC.
The coming weeks should provide some exciting finishes

It was goals galore last night in Modesto, as SSFAC outlasted Modesto City FC 6-4 in a match played at Central Catholic High School. SSF roared out to a 5-1 halftime lead, but Modesto rallied in the 2nd half to make a game of it. Five different players found the net for South City with Greg Hui leading the way collecting 2 goals and teammates Carlos Ballesteros, Brendan Cadam, Kian Katanforoosh & Aidan Durgerian each accounting for one. SSF maintains its 2nd place standing in the very tight Pacific Premier League of the SWPL and will look to stay on the winning track when they host Modesto City FC in a return match on Saturday afternoon February 11th at El Camino High School. Kickoff is 2:30pm

SSFAC got a goal and an assist from newly signed Jack Snowdon, as well as a goal and assist from midfielder Kian Katanforoosh to lead South City to a huge road win over Juventus Academy Silicon Valley 3-1 Sunday night in Redwood City. In his first game with SSF, Snowdon opened the scoring in the 17th minute and Katanforoosh tallied in the 23rd minute to give the team an early 2-0 lead. Juventus pulled one back prior to halftime to bring the game close, but forward Carlos Ballesteros closed it out when he struck in the 70th minute to give South City the win. The team remains in a tight battle for the top spot in the SWPL's Pacific Premier race and they hope to continue their winning ways when they travel to Modesto next Sunday night to take on Modesto City FC in a match at Central Catholic High School... game time is 6:00pm

Santa Clara Sporting scored twice in the first half and rode solid goalkeeping to a 2-0 victory over SSFAC last Sunday at El Camino High School. Early miscues gave Sporting a lead in minute 15, and then a goal right at halftime gave Sporting a lead that they wouldn't relinquish. SSF came out strong to start the second half, but just couldn't get one past the Sporting keeper.
SSF will look to get back on the winning track when they face Juventus Academy Silicon Valley on Sunday Evening, January 29th with a 6:00pm kickoff at Bechet Field in Redwood City.

SSFAC returns home this Sunday, January 22nd when they face long time rivals Santa Clara Sporting at El Camino High School. Game time is 10:30am. South City is coming off a tough defeat at the hands of Dublin Celtic FC last Sunday night in the rain. Greg Hui netted 2, and Aidan Durgerian had a goal and an assist, but it wasn't enough in the 5-3 loss.
SSF and Santa Clara Sporting played to a 0-0 tie in their previous encounter this season, so this Sunday's match should be a very entertaining and intense battle. The forecast is for sunshine, so come out and support your local mens soccer team

SSFAC returns to action on Sunday, January 15th when they travel to the East Bay to face Dublin Celtic FC with kickoff scheduled for 6:00pm at Cayetano Park. This is the first of 3 games during the month of January as the team will also feature at El Camino High School in SSF when they host Santa Clara Sporting on Sunday the 22nd at 10:30am. The final match of the month will have the team back on the road again when they hook up with Juventus Academy Silicon Valley at Bechet Field in Redwood City on the 29th with match kickoff at 6:00pm

Aidan Durgerian has another 2 goal game and Greg Hui adds a strike to help lead SSFAC to a 3-1 win over Deportivo Cometa in a Saturday afternoon match at El Camino High School. The win, South City’s 3rd straight, maintains their hold in the upper third of the standings in the SWPL’s Pacific Premier League. Solid midfield play and excellent defense from the team has had them playing at their best right now. The team will take time off for the Holidays and resume play on January 15th when they hit the road to battle Dublin Celtic FC.

Greg Hui scored twice, and Brendan Cadam added another as SSFAC defeated Los Banos Futbol Club 3-1 in an important road win for the club. The team now looks to close out the fall portion of the schedule when they host Deportivo Cometa on Saturday, December 17th at El Camino High with kickoff set for 2:00pm

SSFAC's Aidan Durgerian has been named the SWPL Player of the Week. Aidan scored twice in leading South City to a 3-0 win over JASA U23 this past Sunday. It is the 2nd time this season that Aidan has tallied twice in a match. A very deserving selection and the team is very proud of him

All 3 tallies came in the first half and South City maintain control throughout the second half to complete the victory. Goalkeeper Adrian Monroy picks up his 4th shutout on the season.
Next up for the team is a road trip to face Los Banos Futbol Club on Sunday Night December 11th with kickoff set for 5:00pm

SSFAC has certainly learned one thing from it's 1st season in to SWPL.....you can't take anything for granted and expect the unexpected. That was evident on Saturday night as a couple of sloppy clearances out of their own end were pounced on JASA U23 and the ensuing counter attacks provided them with an early 2-0 lead. Both teams traded goals in the 2nd half, South City's coming from Greg Hui who finished his chance after a perfectly weighted through ball from Kian Katanforoosh, but it wasn't enough to climb back into it as they finally lost by a 3-1 count.
SSF now has the week off to celebrate Thanksgiving with family and friends, but will certainly look forward to the rematch with JASA U23 which takes place on Sunday, December 4th at El Camino High School. Game time is 10:30am.

SSFAC stuns JASA RWC with a 2-1 victory today at El Camino High. Goals from Brendan Cadam and Kian Katanforoosh with a penalty kick winner in extra time gives SSF a big win. Excellent defensive play from GK Adrian Monroy along with his teammates Sully Donohue, Djim Andemel, Sam Nadell and Kevin Ma made the difference as SSF improves to 4-2-1 in SWPL play.

SSFAC gets 2 goals from Ryan Waterston to lead South City past Dublin Celtic FC 2-0. Match details to follow

Carlos Ballesteros tallied an early goal to get SSF off and running, but 2 strikes by Bay Area United just 4 minutes into the 2nd half, had South City chasing the game looking for an equalizer. The team battled hard putting on pressure and tried to breakdown the United defense. It became a wide open game as both clubs looked to take momentum and hold each other off. Eventually, tired legs took over and United salted the game away with 2 goals in the final 14 minutes to earn a 4-1 win over SSFAC.
South City now has a week off before returning to action on Sunday, November 6th when they host Dublin Celtic FC at El Camino High School with kickoff at 10:30am
