MEET THE HOBBY 👋

This empowering bag is named after Mrs. Oveta Culp Hobby, wife of former Texas Governor William P. Hobby.

A strong and courageous woman, Mrs. Hobby began her career after graduating from University of Texas Law School at the Texas House of Representatives.

A writer at heart, she eventually went to work for the Houston Post-Dispatch, and served as the executive vice president chair.

Afterwards, she went on to publish books on parliamentary law, serve as the Chief of the Women's Division of the Bureau of Public Relations in the War Department and was a founder of the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps.

She played an active role in the election of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and eventually became the director of the Federal Security Administration (FSA) and the first secretary of the Department of Health, Education and Welfare.

Mrs. Hobby was the second woman in history to ever hold a U.S. Cabinet position! 💪

The Hobby handbag represents a woman who will go down in history as one of the most courageous and empowered women of her time, and empowers modern day women who are paving a path for themselves amidst challenges.
