Wow! They transformed a concentration camp to a restorative center. Barbed wire to flower boxes. Betsie's "saw this vision" while suffering in a N**i led concentration camp; beaten and persecuted. She saw beyond it all, with spiritual eyes.

"Before Betsie died, she had said, 'Concentration camps are now used to destroy people. After the war there will be no use for them. We must ask God to give us one, and we will use it to build up lives.'

German friends helped Corrie rent a former concentration camp in Darmstadt, with room for about 160 refugees. Soon it was full, and they had a waiting list. Barbed wire disappeared, flowers appeared in window boxes, and cheerful paint was applied to the drab, gray buildings. Local pastors and church members helped with the building projects.

Her purpose (in carrying out Betsie’s vision) was to help people find security in Jesus Christ in the midst of the insecurity of building a new existence among the war ruins."

25B - The “Adirondack” room. This room can be booked as part of a suite or on its own, located in the southeast corner of the second floor. It has a great feel and like all the other rooms, a ton of light. If booked on it’s own, it’s a great option for the solo traveler. The full B&B amenities are also available to you! Come escape and relax!

We call the time between the ceremony and reception, “The Garden Party.” During this time, guests can mingle in the garden while the couple and wedding party have photos taken.

Passed apps can be added to this time. Couples can add a “garden package” during the garden party. The garden package allows our bartenders to start serving from the bar and includes decorated high top tables for guests to enjoy their drinks and Hors d’oeuvres on our brand new patio!

It’s a great time to have the guestbook signed and have guests take a peak at the seating chart as well!

Spring is here and we can’t wait for our gardens to be in full bloom again. You’ll find some of our flowers used in centerpieces inside the manor and even at our weddings!

Our guests receive a full and delicious breakfast every morning straight from Caroline’s kitchen. Start with a fresh personally brewed cup of the coffee of your choice.  Then enjoy a delicious entrée either in the historic dining room, morning room or out on one of the terraces overlooking Duncraig’s gardens.  Waffles, Eggs Benedict, and Blackberry Blintzes make up just a few of our fav b&b breakfasts.

Jekyll. ⭐️ The calming colors of this large second-floor bedroom, in restful coral and creamy whites, invite guests to enter and relax. Drop in to one of the matching overstuffed chairs or recline on the comfortable four-poster queen bed and enjoy the gas fireplace with a good book in this bright space filled with Southern charm. This room is a fan favorite!

What if it rains on my wedding day?! We have you covered….literally! 😊 Our covered pavilion allows your outdoor ceremony to be switched to a covered and spacious space quickly and easily. Know that there is a backup plan for exchanging your vows.

And don’t worry! More than likely there will be periods of time when the rain stops, allowing you to still get the gorgeous photos around our property that you can have for a lifetime. Remember, rain is good luck! ☔️ 🌧 😉
