Sun Facts ☀️
80-90% of skin aging is from the sun. Sun exposure leads to skin dehydration, inflammation and overall loss of elasticity, prematurely aging your skin and increasing your chances of skin cancer
Skin of color still needs SPF. You might not see the typical signs of a sun burn (redness, peeling, sensitivity, etc.) in more pigmented skin, but damage is still occurring. Statistics have shown that skin cancer is often more deadly in people of color due to the lack of obvious signs, allowing the cancer to progress significantly before detection
Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the US. According to the American Academy of Dermatology, around 9,500 Americans are diagnosed with skin cancer every single day
Melanoma kills 20 people a day in the US. Estimates show over 7,600 people will lose their lives to melanoma this year
Water, snow and sand can increase your burn risk due to UV rays reflecting off of these surfaces
33,000+ sun burns per year land people in the emergency room. Save yourself the pain, time and money and protect your skin
The UV Index high in North Texas is already at a “Very High” 8 for this week. Be consistent with SPF, wear protective clothing and make an overall conscious effort to stay out of direct sunlight especially between the hours of 10-2pm
My favorite combination ✨
DMK Enzyme Treatment x BioRePeel
The ultimate duo for healthy, rejuvenated skin inside and out. BioRePeel is already a little to no down time exfoliant with incredible results. Following with an Enzyme Treatment enhances recovery, leading to the most gorgeous, glowy skin that only gets better with time. Ideal for all skin types and conditions including hyperpigmentation, acne, scarring, aging, and maintenance

Also remember that this is my last full month before I go on my honeymoon in May. The days I’m available in May are filling up quickly so don’t procrastinate 🫶🏼 having your routine thrown off by 3 weeks can have a huge impact on your progress
Skincare tips for my gym girlies 🏋🏻♀️
Sanitize all equipment before use, it’s not safe to assume the person before you did an adequate job of wiping it down
DMK Actrol Powder can be applied to your face, neck, chest, back, even your scalp to help absorb excess moisture and prevent breakouts
Shower immediately post workout! Marinating in your sweat and bacteria from the gym will wreak havoc on your skin
Choose your protein and energy sources wisely. Especially if you’re acne prone, these things are most commonly made up of ingredients that can trigger your acne and disrupt your gut microbiome such as whey, artificial sweeteners, B vitamins, and large amounts of caffeine
Use a towel as a back barrier. This applies to equipment and in your car
Stay hydrated inside and out. Exercise and sauna use heat up your body and skin which can cause excess inflammation and dehydration, exacerbating skin conditions
Avoid wearing makeup to the gym. I know this one can be tough for some, but it’s so important to keep your skin as fresh as possible while working out
Use a paper towel to wipe your sweat. Avoid using your hands, there’s no way you can sanitize your hands enough to avoid cross contamination. For a more sustainable option, use a non fluffy towel
Cold roll to reduce inflammation. This goes hand in hand with hydration, especially when dealing with conditions like inflamed acne or pigmentation, keeping the skin cool is crucial
Keep your pre skincare routine simple. No actives, oils, or heavy moisturizers before, only a light cleanse and SPF should be used, maybe a super light moisturizer if necessary
Wash your hands ASAP post workout, we don’t need to bring all the gym germs to the car or home with us
And last, but not least, keep your hair off your skin. Having your hair down will lead extra sweating and dirty hair can be a huge culprit in upper bacne
A main component in skincare is mindfulness, these little tips and more can make major differences in your skincare journey
Starting the weekend with healthy, happy skin ✨
DMK Enzyme treatments create a process called ‘reverse osmosis’, which helps to flush out toxins from the skin, while encouraging circulation bringing fresh oxygen and supporting your lymphatic drainage system. These treatments are essentially like hitting the “reset” button on your skin, making them ideal for all skin conditions
Book yours today at Vagaro.com/dlskincaretx or by sending me a text or DM
It’s that time of year ✨
With the weather finally cooling down here in Texas, here’s a little guide for those of you interested in getting some corrective peels done this season
Peel prep is one of the most parts of the process. If your skin is unhealthy and not acclimated to the use of active ingredients, there is 0 chance you will have a positive result. This will most likely result in your skin becoming worse than before
We all love our actives, but discontinuing the use of them 7-10 days prior to your peel will help us control the results and ensure we don’t over exfoliate
Post peel, focus on healing your skin. If you aren’t willing to use the proper products to support your skin, there is absolutely no sense in doing the treatment. Your skin will be fresh and vulnerable, think of it like a baby that you need to protect, nourish, and grow
During your appointment we’ll discuss this process and what it will look like for your individual needs and goals. So while it may seem like a lot to take in, don’t worry because I’ll be there to guide you every step of the way ♥️

“Should I use skincare or injections?”
I get this question so much and the answer is usually “both”
Skincare and injections are two completely different ball games and neither can have quite the same effect as the other
If you’re considering injections, a guideline I like to follow is to be consistent with your skincare routine then, start the use of Botox/dysport when fine lines and wrinkles still appear while your face is resting
Utilize filler for areas that are lacking in volume, such as hollow under eyes, cheeks, chin, temples, etc. And to balance your facial features, as these are things skincare simply can not achieve
To eliminate any concerns you have about any treatment, it’s incredibly important to do your research and communicate with your provider to ensure you get the exact results you want
Find someone who will educate you so you can make the best decision, not someone who forces you into one or is your “yes” man. This is how we end up over filled, over processing our skin, and wasting time and money
Glymed Peptide Perfection Peel ✨
Easily one of my favorite exfoliants to use in the treatment room. This peel activates protein turnover to help maintain the regeneration, proliferation, and migration of skin. An advanced peptide formula that helps prevent DNA oxidation and fights environmental aging
Benefits include smoothing and brightening of skin, reduction in pore size appearance, and overall skin rejuvenation
Ideal for all skin types due to the healing and sensitive nature of this peel. One of many beautiful options that can be used during Signature Facials and Enzyme Treatments. Reminder, all exfoliants are chosen based off of what your skin needs and is presenting
What better day to reintroduce myself than
My name is Dani Larkin and I’m the proud owner and esthetician of DLSKINCARE
I started DLSKINCARE almost 4 years ago after bouncing from job to job in the esthetics industry and never being satisfied with the quality anyone else was giving
Be it skimping on products, time, customer service, cleanliness, I never thought I would be a business owner, but those were just some of the many things I found myself unwilling to compromise on
My goal is to inspire confidence and self love in all of my clients and I’m so incredibly grateful to have accomplished so much in my career and built the loving relationships I have along the way
Thank you to everyone who has supported me. Working with all of you has been a dream ✨
Professional Alternatives to Viral Skincare ✨
Now more than ever we’re being bombarded by skincare recommendations. Everyone on every platform is sharing their opinion on products and all it takes is one influencer or celebrity to make a product go viral
Every single one of these viral products is the around the same price, most of them are less expensive, as the professional alternative listed next to it. Even though there’s a misconception that professional skincare costs so much more than what’s readily available to you
So many beauty influencers are paid advertisers or only post good reviews in hopes to get on a brands PR list or get sent on a luxury trip to Dubai. Believe me when I say not a single brand is doing that for your esthis out here 😅
Please do yourself a favor, save your money and work with a professional who’s going to love and care for you the way that I do all of my clients
When you choose your local esthetician you get our expertise and undying support and products that are decades in the making and backed by science and unbiased trials
Believe me when I say, I’m just as easily influenced as the next person, but the most important thing is to at least try to make educated purchases

Genetics & Your Skin ✨
A super simplified guide to genetics and why skincare is not a one size fits all
The main takeaway I want you to get from this is that you are completely unique to everyone else in the world. Your cell regeneration, healing capabilities, oil production, metabolism, and a trillion other things are your own and are responsible for the conditions (or lack there of) presenting on your skin
Some people can lay out in the sun all day and appear fine, while others burn and bubble
Some people can wash their face whenever they feel like and appear fine, while others absolutely need to be diligent with their routine
Some people can only use Dove Soap and never seem to age a day, while others aren’t so lucky
I use words like “appear” and “seem” because those first mentioned habits are not healthy nor things to promote. As mentioned on the last slide, everyone, despite what they may present, should make an effort to take care of themselves even if it’s just the basics
This is why healthy skin is the goal, not perfect skin. You need to address your own capabilities and concerns and the result of that will differ from everyone else’s results and that’s okay ♥️
Peel Season Prep ✨
Consult your esthetician to get on a home care routine that’s going to prep your skin for 4-8 weeks prior to your treatment
This is essential because the point of a peel is to remove (think, DMK’s Remove Rebuild Protect Maintain) on a superficial level, depending on the type of peel and desired results. The healing response promoted by the removal is what makes or breaks your results
If your skin is unhealthy and unprepared, a chemical peel will make your skin worse and the likelihood of a negative reaction skyrockets. Whatever skin condition you’re trying to fix will be exacerbated due to the fact that your skin isn’t functioning properly and will go into defense mode upon application instead of rebuilding mode as intended
Prepared skin will be acclimated to active ingredients, provide a more even canvas for better peel application, and will be functioning optimally to produce the desired results
The peel we do is tailored to your individual skin and goals, it’s important not to be discouraged if your peel experience is not what you expected. Some noteworthy things to keep in mind :
Peeling is not an indicator of success, it’s just a side effect. Everyone peels differently. Your friend can shed like a snake from the same peel that gave you no downtime whatsoever. It wasn’t ineffective just because you didn’t physically peel
Peels have to be worked up to, some are time sensitive, some are done in layers. We will do the amount of time or layers that your skin can handle. If that means 1 out of 6 possible layers or 2 out of 15 possible minutes, you aren’t being cheated. I’m watching your skins reaction to determine when we’ve reached the optimal point
Your skin can appear worse after treatment. Pigment can seem darker, new breakouts can appear, but that’s no means for panic. If you’re beginning your skin revision journey, things need to be worked out of your skin then clarity can be achieved
What you do at home after treatment is the most important. Your skin is baby fresh and needs to be nourished in order to recover. Be aware of all the little things like touching your face, avoiding sun, washing your bedding, etc.

Mindfulness is the theme here
Wash everything regularly, especially your hands. Try your best to minimize the spread of bacteria to protect yourself and your skin
ProCell and DMK Enzyme Treatment ✨
Instant reduction in fine lines, wrinkles, and pore size appearance
Skin tone is evened & volume is UP
And can we take a moment to appreciate the drastic difference in every aspect of the eyes 😍
Redness subsides after a couple hours, skin will feel tight and a little tender for 24 hours max, and the results get better day by day (honestly hour by hour 🤩)
This is THE treatment to jumpstart your aging, pigment, scar, and skin health revision. Booking available by consultation only at the moment
We all know I’d prefer you to not get burnt in the first place, but just in case things got away from you this weekend, here are some tips to help recover from your sunburn ✨
All of these things should be done ASAP to speed up recovery
Solar Damage Gel & Beta Gel day and night along with simplifying your routine to focus on hydration, calming, and pigment inhibiting
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Between the sun and alcohol, your body is dehydrated, which will only exacerbate your condition
Do not pick or peel your skin! Your skin is trying to heal. Think of it like peeling a hangnail. Most of the time you’re left with a more painful and serious wound than what you started with. On your body this could lead to pigmentation or even scarring, you can trim off larger pieces, just be cautious not to cut too close
Take cool showers and ice the affected areas. Avoid loofas or anything that will scratch your skin
Wear soft, loose clothing. Again to avoid scratching the skin or creating more inflammation
Sebum Soak + Ultrasonic Skin Spatulas = Heavenly Decongested Skin ✨
Every facial treatment, besides some peels & ProCell, comes with extractions as needed. This combination makes for easier and faster extractions
Sebum Soak can also be purchased for use as an at home treatment to help maintain your skin in between professional treatments ✨
Diet tips for your skin ✨
Remember that your skin is a part of your body and needs to be nourished as such
Your skin is a direct representation of what is going on inside your body. Poor gut health, IBS, nutrient deficiencies, illnesses, etc. will show up on the surface
Key ingredients 🔑
PATIENCE & CONSISTENCY
I hear the phrase “I’ve tried everything” so often and no one stops to consider that that is actually the problem
Trying a new product every week, even every month, is going to be a hinderance to your results. Sticking with one routine gives your skin the chance to rebuild and heal, THEN once everything is functioning properly, the superficial difference comes
Skincare is a journey because conditions are residual. You can’t quit your routine once your “clear”, you can only alter it to maintain your results
You wouldn’t settle for an “on again off again” personal relationship, so don’t settle for one with your skin!
Product Spotlight ✨
Coola Classic Face Mist Sunscreen
I’ve been through the moon about this product since it’s recent launch. The main reason I find people don’t reapply their sunscreen is because of a lack of options that look and feel good on your skin
This mist is checks every box. It’s lightweight, travel sized, has a refreshing scent, antioxidant enriched, water resistant, broad spectrum, and leaves a natural glow on your skin
Star ingredients include :
Raspberry Seed Oil
Safflower Seed Oil
Glycerin
Prickly Pear Extract
Licorice Extract
Effectively rehydrating, moisturizing, and nourishing your skin which is essential during prolonged sun exposure
Sun Facts ☀️
With summer just around the corner, now is he perfect time to shed some light on the dangers of excess sun exposure
Having 5 or more sunburns in your LIFETIME doubles your risk of Melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer, responsible for around 200,000 cases per year in the US alone
1 in 5 Americans will develop some form of skin cancer by the age of 70
Tanning beds are not a safer alternative to the sun. “Indoor tanning devices can emit UV radiation in amounts 10 to 15x higher than the sun at its peak intensity… One study observing 63 women diagnosed with melanoma before age 30 found that 61 of them used tanning beds” - skincancer.org
UVA (aging) Rays can pass through windows. An excuse I hear all the time “I’m inside most of the day”. The sun does not care. Unless you’re locked in with the blinds closed, you’re still exposed to UVA rays that cause skin damage
Tans & Redness are signs of damage. This is a big one. A “base tan” “a little color” “redness that turns into a tan” whatever you want to call it, it doesn’t matter. Tans and redness are your body’s way of doing damage control
SPF should be reapplied every 2 hours. And 15-30 minutes before sun exposure. Reapplication matters more than the SPF number. It may seem as though SPF 30 would offer 2x the protection as SPF 15 but that isn’t the case and no SPF protects you 100% from the sun. Protection goes roughly as follows :
SPF 15 - 93%
SPF 30 - 97%
SPF 50 - 98%
This is why brands like are lifesavers with their mists that make reapplying a breeze
Proper sun care is so important to your long term health (and your looks but that’s just an added benefit) never think that just because you don’t burn, don’t get sun spots, or whatever you are not at risk. Even I used to be in the false belief that because I never burned, I didn’t need to protect myself
Studies show that while skin cancer cases are more prevalent in white people, they’re more deadly in people of color. We don’t protect or check our skin as frequently, allowing the cancers to progress
Wear your SPF, try to stay out of the sun and/or wear protective clothing, and get regular skin checks from your dermatologist!
Enzyme naps to get you through the week ✨
Something I hear a lot as a young person, especially in my profession, is “you don’t need all those products/treatments until you’re way older!” And that is FALSE
It’s true that things like collagen production and cell turnover slow as we age, but everyone at every age is exposed to things like sun, pollution, and other elements that slowly damage your skin over time
This isn’t to say a 5 year old needs a vitamin c serum (but lets be honest if I could go back and had the wherewithal I would) but early prevention can be as simple as sun protection and maintaining a healthy barrier
Addressing conditions like lines/wrinkles and sun damage once they surface is an uphill battle. Save your time and money, wear your damn sunscreen, wash your face, moisturize, and see your esthetician to go from there
The results of ✨ one ✨DMK Enzyme Treatment
An instant reduction of lines around her eyes, forehead, and neck. Overall plumping, brightening, and increase in balance and hydration
And remember, the results are cumulative. One of the questions I get asked the most is “how long do the results last?” And it’s a tricky one. Everyone’s skin responds differently to treatment and your home care is a major part of your maintenance. The more consistent you are with home care and treatments, the longer you’ll notice a difference in your skin
Treatments are intended to be a boost for your skin, not the end all be all. Outcomes like this are amazing, but progression is impossible if you don’t put in the work at home
Treat your skin like any other part of your body and remember the 80/20 rule. 80% what you do at home and 20% professional care
ACNE TIP ✨
Extractions alone won’t fix your acne. Getting to the root of the problem will
Acne is not a superficial condition, it’s far more complicated than “pop it so it’ll go away”
As with any skin condition, we need to get to the root of the problem, address that, then we can work on the more visible/superficial parts
Acne can be caused by a wide variety of things including diet, stress, hormones, etc.
And not to mention, improper extraction techniques will only make things worse
Start your acne journey today by booking online at DLSKINCARE.COM

Mine are :
Getting my nails done with
Getting skin treatments by or
And spending an hour or 2 at the gym after work
It’s true what they say “you can’t pour from an empty cup”
Reminder : Most ingredients are not inherently good or bad. Formulation is what really matters ✨
This is a topic I continuously harp on because of the increasingly misleading advertising out there
👏🏼 The poison is in the dose 👏🏼
“Good” and “Bad” ingredients typically can not be blanket statements
Example : Witch Hazel
✅ - small amounts within a product for daily use
- a larger amount for use as an astringent in treatments
❌ - pure or mixed with alcohols for daily or frequent use
Some questions to ask yourself when looking at specific ingredients
Would my skin benefit from this if formulated properly?
Is it supported by other ingredients for efficacy?
Am I only taking note of it because of pre conceived notions(good or bad)?
Is it located at an appropriate place on the ingredient list?
Forget marketing, packaging, where you’ve seen the product before and make educated choices that will benefit YOU. When in doubt, ask your esthetician. Im always happy to be a resource for my clients. And trust me, if you’re looking at products I don’t have, I’ll be happier that you asked instead of going by trial and error
