**STOP SIGNS IN PLACE**
Today, 6-14-24, Stop signs are being installed at the intersections shown below. Turntable Rd and Ray Broyles Rd. as well as Hale Street and Golden Mountain Road. Be aware of these new additions on your daily commute.
We will also be adding "STOP AHEAD" painted on the road and an addition of rumble strips will soon be added.

Come see us today at the police dept 323 E Bockman Way from 10am to 2pm to dispose of your old, unused, and expired medication!

Assistance Needed: Help Identify a Person of Interest

The Sparta Police Department would like your help in identifying a person of interest in connection with a theft.

One lane of Bockman Way will be closed from 3D Financial to Liberty Square. S. Church will be closed from Bockman Way to Maple St.

Traffic lights are not working on the East side of the city. Please use caution while electric crews work on getting them restored.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office and to the deputies families during this difficult time.

*****PARADE UPDATE*****

There was an incident that occurred on 10/14/2023 at 7:34pm on Mayberry St where gun shots were reported. Officers arrived on scene and took a suspect into custody. No one was injured during the incident.

***Missing Person***
Pictured below is Bobby Ragland. Mr. Ragland was reported as missing on 08/07/23 at 8:30am. Mr. Ragland was last seen on 08/06/2023 at 10:00am leaving his residence on S. Highland Drive on foot. He was last seen wearing khaki pants, unknown shirt color but always walks with a large wooden walking stick. If anyone has seen Mr. Ragland or knows of his whereabouts please contact the police dept at 931-836-3734 or White County Dispatch at 931-738-7111.

Quick-thinking Sparta police officers rescue stranded kayakers Three Sparta police officers teamed up to rescue stranded kayakers. It saved their lives.

We are very proud of Sgt. Jt King, K9 Ofc Austin Edwards, and K9 Ofc Justin Cunningham. They did an excellent job during this rescue.
