UPDATE | Family identifies five family members killed in South Carolina crash

This morning I spoke to the children’s mom, Ashley Ballenger who not only lost her dad and sister but also her three precious babies. 💔

Ashley identified her three children who were killed in the crash on Saturday night in Spartanburg County as Jaicurious who was a 6th grader at Fairforest Middle. His sister Jalecia who attended 3rd grade at Cleveland Elementary Acadmey of Leadership and their brother Ashton, who was a 9th grader at the Dorman Freshman Campus.

I’m told their aunt, Ashley’s sister Ashia was driving and their dad, Leroy Covington was riding with them in the vehicle. The children had been visiting Ashia and their grandparents in Campobello. They were taking the children back to their mom when the crash happened on I-26.

Losing any family member is hard but it’s unimaginable to lose three of your children, your sister and your dad in one horrific tragedy. As you can imagine, this family is going through so much right now and will soon have to start the process of planning five funerals.
