I hit my knees more times in a day than I can count. And I feel closer to Him when I do.
Everything about this life is at the mercy of a higher power. All we can do is our best and hope the universe plays nicely. And pick ourselves up and keep going when it doesn’t. Do I think about quitting? Yes. A lot. But, I keep getting called back here. To my knees.

Living with livestock.. A few nights ago, two of our dairy goats were attacked by a dog. We just happened to be taking a walk about the farm when we saw one laying with her head stuck strangely through a gate in her pen. They have bites on a number of their legs, some to the bone, and one trauma to their face (pumpkin had her head through the gate remember). Not to mention, she is four months pregnant with the first baby goat that will hopefully be born on this farm. Luckily for them, we walked up when we did. Unfortunately for us, it's a dog we know. When you have a farm, one thing you will never forget is that animals are not always predictable. There's always a first time for an incident to occur. Fortunately, in our journeys, we have built a network of amazingly talented people who will still answer our phone calls and offer any advice they can. And incredible family who make themselves available when there's an emergency. It truly does take a village, and we couldn't do it without ours. Here, I am cleaning wounds, feeding and freshening bedding, and giving antibiotic injections. Wishing these skills were fresher in my brain (last I did a lot of this type of thing was when I worked at a dairy in college), but thankful for those offering guidance along the way. Things are looking up, and hopefully these babies will be on the mend soon. Living with livestock is not easy. There's a lot of love and a lot of loss when you take on the responsibility of caring for animals. So please, don't be offended when I ask you not to bring your dog to our farm. ☺️
