Whistle pig art and farm
Welcome to Whistle Pig Art.
Drum roll sound effects.... I made a fish shirt! During our slow January that turned out to be not so slow, but still pretty great since I got to work on some new projects, I've been learning to sew clothes! (Thanks mom!) I love thrifting, but it's becoming harder to find quality finds, it's mostly polyester junk, I can't imagine how one acquires new clothes... A department store I suppose? So here we are... Old linen curtains turned into a shirt and embroidered with fish... Where's the rest of the curtains you ask?... This was not my first attempt at a shirt...
It's official!!! We'll be at the March 23rd 11-5 inside .artstudios

Meet "Hank"... Embroidery, acrylic, and coffee on muslin... He's a whopper 30ish by 15 in this great ol frame... I've always called these rolly pollies but apparently there's a whole mess of nicknames for these little isopods across the pond...maybe we should get more creative with our nicknames...
Hanks entered in the Please Bug Me show in so fingers crossed!
It's time for a much needed spackle and paint on my wall up at ... I love being a member of the Marquee, and can't wait to give my lil ol wall the makeover it deserves
I really enjoy making versions of Frank, it was a little sad as Autumn turned to winter I knew I'd wait another year to rerelease him, but turns out I have customers with top notch taste who love Frank year round... I get it, we watch Young Frankenstein at least once a month... so here's an oldie but if all goes according to plan I'll have a different Frank this Saturday at the ...
Got another monster character you'd like to see?
I haven't had success growing beets yet, radishes? Oh yes, but my much loved beet? Nope... 2024 the year of the beet... Oh and I made this... Embroidery and watercolor "beets me" or "you can't beet it" your choice...

Got my mini books "Etheleen Marmot Eats Cake" 11 new minis including diet coke and cheerwine, my longest asparagus yet, and "pardon me..." Yep a grey poupon piece all up to the today. If you haven't been it's an amazing afternoon of some of the best art I've ever seen, antiques and vintage goodness, it even has a bar with traditional and alcohol free cocktails. "that's not enough information or community pot luck and bbq"... Little sneak peek before this one heads off to this week... Wanna see it in person? Check it out at the artists' reception January 18th 5-8pm
Well it finally happened, I wrote a book! "Etheleen Marmot Eats Cake"... To be fair I wrote the story last year and loved it, but couldn't figure out a way to combine the art and story well, so few ever got the chance to read it, so a yearish later here we are! Written on my ol smith corona and illustrated in ink, hand bound, and in its own tiny bookshelf. A tale of socialite life, disappointed 7 year olds, snug beachwear, and a most certainly stale piece of cake, all in 3 x 2 1/4 inches. 4 cover options to choose from. These will be available this Wednesday! I will not be bringing them to pop ups, so make sure to swing by there before the first round is gone!
PS I'm now in love with the tiny book making process so stay tuned for more titles!
PSS this is my serious authors face for book jackets, which I now realize I need to make...
PSSS thank you for helping me make these happen this past month and driving me all over town
Another critter ready for our first market of the year tomorrow 10-2... I guess I need to make our monthly calendar post ... Personal note... We've lived in the woods for almost 6 years. We've heard owls constantly but never seen them, woodpeckers? Oh yeah tons, but never once saw our owl... Found out last month it's mourning doves... So here's our non existent owl...
Yep still on my animal kick, yes he has low arms so they're outta view I just like that feature in my cartoon turtles and tortoises, although he's a youngin', he's based on Johnathan, the world's oldest tortoise... Get him Saturday 10-2
The world needs more ostrich art. So here's my contribution to mankind today...
It'll be coming along with us to Greenville Saturday INDOORS for the
Fresh knives for this Saturdays market (unless of course you snag one first) ....first up: hand forged 7 inch chef knife with desert iron wood handle and brass pins... Second: 9 inch stock removal an outdoorsy chef knife with hamon and Chechen wood... Was your new years resolution to use good knives? We can help.
Starting off January with opossum in pinstripes... And if you like this one wait till you see owl in argyle... Well I suppose it's just diamond print, but I like the sound of the former... Catch a whole mess of anthropomorphic art this Saturday at the first !!!
We've been using our market free time to work on some new products for the new year. Any guesses? It combines several of my passions, and I get to mess around with my new 1976 portable Brother Charger (a Merry Christmas from )...
Look out for this new mystery addition to Whistle Pig coming in the next week or so...
I often bring my typewriter to events to work in the downtime and people always ask where I found it... ... I have 5, all from them. They're fairly priced, all in exactly the working order they promise, packaged very well, and their customer service is unbeatable.
Whew what a year... We can't say thank you enough to everyone who's been so supportive of us our first full year as full time artists...we have the best group of artist and small business friends, cheering us on, advertising, networking, hosting events, making our logos, and just the best people to spend a 95 degree no cloud cover Saturday with 😂 and we have the best customers anyone could ask for, we put so much into our art and craft and it's beyond wonderful the appreciation and love you've shown! We're enjoying a few week of hibernating with the cats, learning some new skills, and preparing to make 2024 even more amazing! Get ready for new art, new knives, and the best duo show the burgs ever seen!
Market season is over, whew! But your last minute shopping doesn't have to be! We'll be sharing in our stories available knives, leather, copper, and art available for pickup, wrapped and ready! What's in stock is what's available for Christmas. Of course we're happy to take commissions as usual but those wont be available till mid January so we can enjoy the season! DM with any questions or to snag something before Santa does! ( That's right, he outsources a lot of art and knife making, but he supports local so we don't mind)
