Happy 4th of July! Gunters Gardens is closed Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday this week (week of July 4th). Starting Friday July 5th we will be closing at 3:00PM.

Our hours the rest of the summer (starting July 5) are 9:00AM-3:00PM and closed Wednesday and Sunday.

We still have a tremendous selection of plants, fertilizers, insecticides and fungicides. Our horticulturist Blake is available Saturdays to help solve your garden problems. What does Gunter’s specialize in? The healthiest plants and the widest selection in the area.

Just a reminder that Gunter’s is closed on Wednesday and Sunday. We are still loaded with flowers, shrubs and trees. Blake will be in the nursery on Saturday to help with your tough gardening problems, or help you find just the right plants.

PG Hydrangeas are the most sun tolerant. They have white blossoms that fade to green, or pink, white. Limelight is the one everyone knows, but it’s BIG! Firelight Tidbit stays smaller. One of my favorites is Vanilla Stawberry. Easily kept to 4x4’ (with late winter pruning down to 2’), it’s a dependable bloomer with great heat tolerance. While we have around 200-3g plants in stock, the growers are mostly sold out, so don’t wait too long if you’re planning on putting some in the ground (they also do great in pots). Last week a landscaper bought over 60 hydrangeas over 2 days.

Gunter’s Gardens is closed on Wednesdays until sometime in September, while the weather is so hot. Mr Gunter has gotten old and cannot stand the heat anymore. It’s as simple as that.

Hydrangeas are still showing off. The PG Hydrngeas (the white ones that tolerate full sun like Limelight and Little Lime) are just now coming into bloom. We have hundreds of hydrangeas in stock.

Gunter’s Gardens will be closed Wednesday’s and Sundays starting this week. We are open 9-5 the rest of the week. After July 4th we will make additional changes to our hours , but will remain open all summer and continue to be closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. We hope this doesn’t inconvenience anyone.

It’s Hydrangea season. We’ve sold so many, but we’re going back for more. We still have an extremely wide selection of flowers, shrubs, and trees, maybe a wider selection than anyone in Spartanburg. Japanese Maples are one of our specialties. What else? Encore Azaleas as well as the big old azalea varieties with huge flowers. Butterfly bushes are now blooming. Roses are starting to bloom again. Daylilies too. Need shrubs for full sun under 3’ tall and evergreen? We can give you a dozen options, maybe more. Need a privacy hedge? We can give you more than a dozen options. Shade tree? Groundcover? Hanging Baskets? Yes yes yes. Do we have everything? No! But we have ALOT!

CLOSED MEMORIAL DAY, mainly because of the weather forecast. Otherwise open 9-5 Monday-Saturday. BTW, we have 300-400 hydrangeas in stock. These are a few that are blooming now.

Gunter’s Gardens has two deliveries of perennial flowers, annual flowers, hanging baskets, and some especially good perennials coming this morning (Thursday May 16). We have several colors of coneflowers, Tractor Seat Plants, Sacred Lily, Cast Iron Plants, Hellebores, Cardoon, and dozens of other varieties of perennials for sun or shade. Pink Diamonds is a Bleeding Heart that blooms all Summer. We also have some tall butterfly weeds (Cinderella), Sun King Aralia (bright gold for shade), and Millennium Alliums with their large purple globe flowers. Lots more. My only problem…where am I going to put everything. Hope to see you this weekend.

Gunter’s Gardens (315 Caldwell Circle, Spartanburg 29301) is having a sale on 15g Crapemyrtles. You can see by the photo that they are huge (8-12’ and bigger). Normally $129.99, they are now on sale for $100 each. Crapemyrtles love full sun, bloom in the summer when not much else is blooming, and are easy to grow in our climate. The varieties on sale include Natchez/white, Dynamite/dark red, Tuscarora/pink, Twilight/dark purple , and Catawba/lavender. We have more than what are showing in this photo.

Many of our customers say we have the best nursery in our area. I have made it a point to buy extra flowers and other types of container plants so you will always have lots of choices. It's time to start putting out pre emergent in your lawn and garden beds! 0-0-7 is my favorite for lawns because it will feed your grass without pushing growth. We also have some Hi-Yield products without any fertilizer in it. If you already have weeds showing we have some sprays that will quickly knock them down without harming your grass.

IT'S TREE SEASON!!! FRUIT, SHADE, PRICACY, FLOWERING, FAST GROWING, BEAUTIFUL FOLIAGE, NATIVE, WE HAVE THEM ALL!

It is a great time to plant them in the dormant season, so when they wake up they don't know anything happened. Do you have good topsoil or the compact red clay? If you have bad soil, then don't forget to blend some planting mix in the ground. Bonus points for using a Espoma tree tone fertilizer to get them going.
