Kourtney Stacey was 22 weeks pregnant when she was diagnosed with COVID, pneumonia and respiratory failure. Due to the danger she and her unborn baby were in, Kourtney was placed on ECMO, a form of life support that provides cardiac and respiratory support to those who cannot support themselves. After over a month of receiving care at Spartanburg Medical Center, Kourtney recovered and went on to deliver her baby girl 67 days after being discharged.

Recently, Kourtney and her family had the opportunity to return to Spartanburg Medical Center and thank her medical team, who worked tiredlessly to provide for her during her stay. Her team even got to meet Ella Grace - who is now three years old and thriving.

Special blood coolers have been installed on select EMS vehicles, allowing paramedics who have received additional training to administer blood on site to patients in need. Why Spartanburg Regional? The reason I was drawn to Spartanburg Regional was because of the wide variety of rotations and learning experiences that are available. Prior to residency, I had the opportunity to complete some rotations here and it was evident that the preceptors and pharmacy staff had the best interests of the residents and students in mind. All of the staff at Spartanburg Regional were very friendly and after my time here, I knew it was the ideal learning environment for me as a resident.

Why Spartanburg Regional? Spartanburg Regional had everything I was looking for in a residency program including the wide variety of inpatient rotations in my areas of interest. During my time here, it was clear to see how supportive and encouraging the pharmacy staff are in providing the best learning opportunities for their residents.
