About the Artist:
My main creative work is as a mixed media artist. Exploring new styles and mediums is an essential element of my artistic practice. Much of my work is created using alternative printmaking techniques. Portraits are the most consistent and prevalent images in my work, reflecting my fascination with, and appreciation of people.
In the styles of contemporary expressionism or surrealism, I primarily create empowered images of people of color. Much of my work reflects issues of social justice. I enjoy the process of creation through experimentation and layering, and I often prefer producing prints created as a series of the same base image, reimagined in a variety of expressions, as part of an examination of the concepts of wholeness and separateness. I create art designed to challenge perceptions of race, gender, sexuality, and social status. I also create using warm and rich earth tones with bright yellow and orange accents, as well as art with vibrant pinks, blues and greens. Town of Speedway Speedway TownTalk

About the artist:
Iāve been creating art for over 50 years now. I have been screen printing for at least 40 of those years, and have a Masterās degree in printmaking.
It all begins with an idea.
Such as - wouldnāt it be fun to depict abstract people in real environments.
Or - how about cropping Indy cars in such a way that only the real, hard core, fans will recognize those wonderful cars.
Or - have you ever considered how the digital revolution has evolved our early technology?
These are just some of the ideas I have transformed into fabulous screen printed limited editions.

About the Artist:
Ever since I can remember, my passion has been turning everyday materials into beautiful pieces of art, whether it be art, furniture or dƩcor. I have lived in Indiana my whole life, growing up in Southern Indiana. I moved to the Indianapolis area 7 years ago with my wife and 4 kiddos, and now we call Greenwood our home.
While my formal education led me to pursue graphic and experience design, my heart has always gravitated towards the hands-on nature of woodworking, construction, and craftwork. PayneCraft is the culmination of this lifelong passion, ignited by the rich legacy of craftwork, woodworking, and artistic design that runs through my family for generations.

The Original Speedway Arts Pop Up Shop is thrilled to once again host Justin Patten and Storm Striker Art!
Storm Striker Art by Justin Patten began as way for Justin to weave together his love for sports and art. Justin seeks to capture the energy of the last moments of a sporting event with bold color and brush strokes in his paintings. This movement and energy seemed like a perfect fit with the excitement of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, so Justin was thrilled to become a licensed artist for the track.
As enthusiasm built over Storm Striker paintings, Justin and his wife, Rachel, decided to add a line of merchandise using the popular artwork. They now have a line of apparel, hats, flags, ornaments, vinyl stickers, LED lights, and drinkware which will be for sale in the Pop Up Shop.
In addition to the IMS line, they also have a line of collegiate products on their website, www.stormstriker.com and have a partnership with Evergreen Enterprises for a line of NFL, NHL, MLB, and over 70 NCAA schools.

We're so incredibly excited to have her join this year's Pop-Up shop! Please come and see her creations at Speedway Art Councilās Original Pop-Up Shop beginning May 10, located on the second floor of the Wilcox Building on Main Street
About the artist:
Raised in a small city south of Boston, my artistic journey has been one of constant exploration. While my professional journey initially led me to the culinary world as a chef, my heart was always drawn to the realms of art and photography. The meticulous craft of plating design, with its symphony of colors and textures, provided me a temporary canvas for creative expression.
The onset of the pandemic marked a turning point in my pursuits. Embracing digital mediums like Sketchbook and Adobe, I delved into a world of endless possibilities. Through dedication and perseverance, I have attempted to forge a style that is bold, vibrant, and unapologetically defiant- learning new mediums and constantly experimenting. As I continue to evolve as an artist, my aim remains the same: to capture the essence of the human spirit, provoking thought and feeling in all who encounter my art.
