Father's Vineyard

A church committed to impacting all of society by becoming more Christ-Like. As we bear much fruit

Kids Church Theme for January. This month we are learning all about Responsibility! God is the author of creation, and God has entrusted us to care for and cultivate the world we see around us. We do that by taking responsibility. Life is filled with moments where we can decide to reflect God’s character, take responsibility, and use what we have wisely. When we follow through and do what needs to be done, we can point others to Jesus. click link for video https://fathersvineyard.org/kids/2024/01/09/january-theme-responsibility/

Preschoolers are learning a lot of important things. How to put away their toys. What is wrong. What is right. When to say please, thank you, and I’m sorry. But learning important things doesn’t stop after preschool. It never stops! That’s why we want to make sure preschoolers know that they have the BEST Teacher teaching them important things—the MOST important things— for the rest of their lives. And He wants to be their friend forever! Yes, it’s Jesus! So get ready to search for some CLUBHOUSE CLUES in January and help preschoolers discover that Jesus teaches me important things.

December Theme for Kids Church : "Deck The Halls"
With the busyness of the Christmas season, it’s easy to lose sight of why we celebrate in the first place. We forget that at the time of the first Christmas, God’s people were anticipating a Rescuer who would come and save the world. That’s what makes a countdown like an advent calendar so powerful. It allows us daily moments to stop and reflect on God, who loved us so much and sent Jesus to be our Savior. That’s why this December, we’re “decking the halls” and taking the whole the month to focus on nothing but Christmas. We’re celebrating Jesus, God’s greatest gift! We can’t wait to shine a spotlight on crucial moments in the story of Jesus’ birth as we count down to Christmas. The best gift God ever gave was Jesus. Because of Jesus, it’s possible for us to have a relationship with God that will last forever. As we take this month to count down to the fun of Christmas Day, let’s take time to remember the reason we celebrate in the first place: Jesus, the greatest gift the world has ever known.

Christmas is such a special time of year! Preschoolers will experience a lot of excitement and wonder. We all do! But as they get older—and as we take time to stop and remember—we hope that the good news that God gave us Jesus will become the MOST wonderful part of Christmas. So get ready because we are hopping aboard the CHRISTMAS TRAIN, and it’s carrying the true story of Christmas! https://fathersvineyard.org/nursery/2023/11/29/december-christm…od-gave-us-jesus/

UPDATE from our Military Ministry. On this Giving Tuesday, please consider a donation to Operation Christmas Cheer.

It seems like only yesterday I was sending Christmas Cheer For Our Deployed Troops 2022, then I blinked and here it is 2023! Where does the time go?

Another year gone by and another year I stand in awe over His provisions, prompting hearts to give back; people giving of their time, their talents, and their resources to support Christmas Cheer For Our Deployed Troops.

It is important that we continue to cultivate an awareness of the magnitude of sacrifice those who wear our country’s uniform make each day, especially those who are deployed. They miss birthdays, holidays, reunions, graduations, the birth of their own children, weddings, funerals, comforts of home, sleep, showers, food, clean clothes, their sacrifices are endless, yet they continue to give of themselves so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. We owe them much more than what we often give.

I am so proud to live in such a wonderful community that understands their sacrifices and that gives generously throughout the year, but especially at Christmas! Thank you to Sunshine Elementary School, the Bostic/Sunshine Community, my Father’s Vineyard Church family, my friends, and my family. Christmas Cheer 2023 would not be possible without your giving, caring hearts! Because of you, we are sending a total of 25 boxes of Christmas Cheer to troops across the globe on Monday and an additional 3-5 boxes later in the week!

Your gratitude and your willingness to give is the simplest yet most powerful thing you can do for our troops . Your kindness will impact their lives in many ways and let them know they are not forgotten and their sacrifices matter.

Thank you again for your willingness to touch the lives of another with the resources God has so generously given to you. – Lisa Marie Barrett, Director

KIDS CHURCH: We are teaching the Kids “Gratitude.” It sometimes feels like a lost art. Yet gratitude is an idea close to God’s heart. Throughout this month, we hope kids will learn to be grateful for everything God has done: for the world God made, for the promises God has kept, and for the new life God offers the world through Jesus. When we remember all of these things, we can always be thankful. Click link for video:

The month of November we will be teaching our preschoolers about thanking God for who He is, what He has done, and what He has given us is something people have been doing for a very, very, VERY long time. You could say that the people in the Bible make up this super long PARADE OF THANKS . . . and it’s up to us to keep it going! We want our preschoolers to continue this Parade of Thanks by teaching them they can thank God for everything—literally everything! Their light-up shoes, their new toy, their snack, their favorite rock . . . EVERYTHING! So let’s make sure the Parade of Thanks that God’s people began so long ago continues with us and our preschoolers as we choose to thank God for everything!

This or That??

An adult makes about 35,000 choices every day, but adults are not the only ones with choices to make. Children have their fair share of choices too—about 3,500 of them. Every. Single. Day. Should I eat this snack or that snack? Should I play with this toy or that toy? Should I do this and share or do that and keep it all for myself?

Knowing that our preschooler’s 3,500 daily choices will one day turn into 35,000 daily choices is why we want to teach preschoolers that, when they have a choice between This or That, they can trust that God knows what’s best for them.
