🌟 Frequently Asked Question 🌟​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​One common question we get from our patients is, "How do I manage toothache until I can see a dentist?"

Let's dive in! Dealing with toothache can be uncomfortable, but here are a few tips to help manage until your appointment:
1️⃣ Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater to reduce inflammation.
2️⃣ Use over-the-counter pain relievers like ibuprofen or acetaminophen as directed.
3️⃣ Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek if there is swelling.
4️⃣ Avoid very hot or cold foods and drinks that could aggravate sensitivity.

We are pretty excited about this week's edition of "Get to Know Dr. Jimmy" because we went right to the source for ALLLLLL the info!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ Dr. Lisa (Dr. Jimmy's wife and fellow Nightingale Family Dental dentist) answered this question: "What alternative career would Dr. Jimmy Have if he wasn't a dentist?"

Here's Dr. Lisa's answer: "The first thing that came to mind was some sort of "wheeling and dealing salesman", in the most flattering way, haha!! But if he wasn’t practicing dentistry he'd probably be a director/mentor/teacher in a residency program. What he loves as much as dentistry is teaching and mentoring others! With his training as a comprehensive dentist in the Army he obtained the credentials to become the director of an AEGD (residency) program to train other dentists in the specialties. That is what he would have done if he stayed in the Army. He loves a group environment and connecting with others and helping them learn, he finds ways to do this as much as possible. Ultimately, he decided he wanted to work together and got out of the military to put down roots."

What a guy! We're so lucky to have Dr. Jimmy's fun and caring personality in the office!

Happy Sunday! We're continuing our month-long series of "Get to Know Dr. Jimmy!" ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This week, we asked our dental assistant, Kendall, "What does Dr. Jimmy like to do outside of the office?"

Here's Kendall's answer: "Dr. Jimmy loves to hunt turkey and deer and he likes to fish. He has several patients that let him hunt on their properties. He is going fishing with a patient soon too! He is also training for a triathlon!"

As you can see, he's an outdoorsy type who loves being active!

"Dr. Jimmy is so fun to talk to, he has great charisma. He is very attentive and genuinely cares about people. He is wise beyond his years, has great advice, and has a way with words that makes everyone feel comfortable. He has an “I can attitude” he never tells me “no” whether I am asking him to go in a dunk tank at a school carnival or fitting an emergency patient in, it’s always a “yes”. You can count on him to bring the fun and laughter, his contagious laugh can be heard throughout the office daily."

We saved the best for last and asked our final “get to know Dr. Lisa” question to none other than Dr. Jimmy, Lisa’s husband!​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​We asked Dr. Jimmy: “What would Dr. Lisa’s alternate career be if she wasn’t a dentist?” and here’s what he said!

Answer:
“She would probably be in a lab, doing research or possibly a dental lab tech, especially since her mom was a microbiologist and she always seemed interested in her work!

OR… she would have been a CrossFit SUPERSTAR!

When we were in dental school, she was leg pressing 400lbs without even really trying hard. She very naturally lifts weights, almost as much as I can, even when she was pregnant!”

WOW, I’d say we are all in GREAT hands with this physical superstar at the helm!
