“How often do I need to get a trim to maintain my pixie?”

It all depends on your personal comfort level! I have some people who CAN’T STAND hair touching their ears - so I see them about every 4 weeks. And then there’s some people who I see when their hair is back to their shoulders 😂😂

Most commonly, though, I see my pixies back in the chair at the 6-8 week mark ✂️

What to do if you’re experiencing sun-damaged hair:

🔥 Avoid hot tools.

“How long does a vivid gloss last?”

Adding a vivid gloss to your blonde is a great way to try out fun colors without the commitment! They usually last 1-2 weeks but it truly depends on how often you’re washing your hair and what your at home hair routine looks like.

After your initial appointment, if you decide you love the hue, I recommend a pigmented conditioner/balm to keep up with it at home in between appointments. Otherwise, just let it fade out and you’re back to blonde ✨

“What’s the maintenance like with a foilayage?”

One my favorite things about this technique is the grow out! The roots and ends are blended for a soft regrowth, meaning no harsh lines!

I have clients that come as often as every three months and as long as once or twice a year but the most common is about 12-16 weeks with the occasional gloss in between 😊

With Summer closing in on us, let’s talk about Sun Damage!

Did you know your hair can become damaged from prolonged exposure to the sun? Here’s a few tips to avoid it!

•Cover your hair in a hat or head wrap when you know you’re going to be in the sun for an extended period.

•Use a UV pretection spray. My favorite is the Moroccanoil - Protect & Prevent Spray.

•Wear heat-free or protective hairstyles like braids or a bun.

If you’re a blondie who loves to swim, this is for you! ⬇️

Have you ever experienced green hair after taking a dip in the pool? Here’s why:

The chlorine in pools can oxidate metals found in water, most commonly copper and iron, and those oxidized metals bind to your hair’s protein - causing green hair.

Here’s how to prevent it:

•Always wet your hair down BEFORE getting in the pool. You can also apply a conditioner or leave-in as well.

•Rinse your hair in between dips. If you’re like me, and prefer to do a lil swimming here and sunbathing there - always rinse after being in the pool.

•Thoroughly shampoo and condition your hair when you’re done swimming for the day to remove any buildup.

Vivid Tips Below ⬇️

1️⃣ Always wash in cold water. To avoid freezing your whole body, I recommend washing your hair in the sink then taking your normal shower while your hair is pinned up.

2️⃣ Use a color safe, sulfate free shampoo and conditioner. My favorite for vivid colors is the Color Extend Magnetics by Redken.

3️⃣ Keep your temperature on your hot tools low. Anything above 350 degrees is too hot and can remove your color 😱

•Wash in cold water.

•Always use a heat protectant when styling with hot tools.

Foilayage Blonding .beautybar ❤️

Now that the weather is warming up, let’s talk about chlorine and the effect it can have on your hair!

Your average pool has a pH of 7.2-7.8 while our hair’s pH is 3.5-4.5. This can cause:

•Dryness and Frizz
•Faded Color
•Scalp Irritation

Some tips to combat this are to:

1️⃣ Always wet your hair before swimming. Our hair is porous so if we fill it up before we get in the pool, the less chlorine it can absorb!

2️⃣ Put your hair up. I like to coat my hair in conditioner and braid it before clipping it to the top of my head to keep it out of the water.

3️⃣ Wash your hair with a pH balanced shampoo and conditioner when you’re done swimming. Even if you were able to keep your hair above water, it can still absorb chlorine.

As much as I love my blondes and vivids, nothing beats a rich, chocolate brown 🤎 beautybar

Three products to help keep that hair ashy! ⬇️⬇️⬇️

1. Purple Conditioner or Mousse - Why not Purple Shampoo? Purple Shampoo is great but often overused, leaving your hair feeling dry 😱 When used properly, it’s a great asset but not everybody knows this. Purple Conditioner and/or Mousse don’t contain those same astringent properties, so they can be used more often 😊

2. Heat Protectant - Did you know the temperature of your favorite hot tools can strip your color? This is why I always recommend a good heat protectant and to never set your tool above 350 🔥

3. Cool Water - Just like any other color, the toner we use for our beautiful blondes will one day fade as well. To keep that ash blonde ash, wash your hair in cool water to get the most life out of your color! Here’s a tip from someone with green hair: Wash your hair in the sink, clip your hair up, and take your hot shower after. Not all of you has to freeze 🥶

To everyone still hanging around after my 2 year hiatus - thank you! I didn’t intend to drop off the face of the earth but as we all know too well, life is just so busy. In 2021 I moved back to Colfax so I could help my parents more and shortly after I was able to become their Home Care Aid!
