I love when brings in my favorite little client. I’m always bragging about how well she sits for her appointments. These are long color sessions where I’ll use the same techniques I usually would for an adult, so the fact that she makes it through these always blows my mind. Also she completely chooses her colors and this time she asked for “yellow on the top and pink into blue on the ends.”

A little back story on her hair: We’ve been only foiling the top and front for the past couple years to keep her low maintenance. She moved to the other side of the state and we knew appointments would be much less often due to distance. She also got engaged, so we’ve been working on keeping her hair long and healthy for her wedding.

Fast forward to this appointment. We wanted to get the majority of her hair to where we want it for the wedding so next time we can just do a small foil to brighten up before the big day. We spent eight hours getting her hair brightened up. Swipe for a jump scare of her before!

Was I sweating bullets with this color? Absolutely. Did I also kill this color? You be the judge!

Vivid colors are so difficult because you never know how they’ll fade or if they even will. Especially when done at home. We did a couple of test strands before starting and to our surprise the blue came out! She had some red color underneath that did not want to come out near her roots, so we decided pink would be our new goal. Thankfully she was a dream client that was open to almost any color as long is looked more purposeful than what she came in with. Shoutout to .18 for sticking it out and trusting me🫶🏻

Why do multiple sessions when you can just do one really long one?

For real though, this kind of color is not always achievable, especially in one session. This beautiful guest had virgin hair and was patient with me while I foiled the day away. We were both so happy with how this cut and color turned out.

What a fun color for a sweet gal🫶🏻 We did a very heavy foil to keep some dimension from her natural color but add some brightness back into her pink. Once we finished lightening I went back in with a beautiful dark magenta color at her root and melted it into a bright pink. This will give her an even softer grow out and will fade beautifully.

When you need a color correction, but are on a time crunch, you formulate the best you can and hope the hair gods are on your side😅

She needed in before a trip, but I was only able to squeeze her in for a short appointment. She wanted a dark purple, so I formulated a darker color to cover the banding and brass, and thankfully it covered it and we can fix it when it fades out.

Stay tuned for the progress of her healthy hair journey. Her hair unfortunately had previously been over processed and was broken off in many places. When hair is pushed passed its limits, it no longer holds color the same way. We didn’t want to further damage her hair, so using a gentle demi-permanent color was the way to go. You can see even after two color applications, her ends did not want to hold that color. Thankfully it still looks beautiful, and we can now work on mending her hair🫶🏻

Hi. I’ve been absent from social media the past couple of weeks, and I apologize for that. As most of you know, my sister is very ill and had a major surgery last week. I cannot express how loved I’ve felt by my community that I’ve built over the years. Thank you so much to everyone that has reached out to check on my family. I cannot thank you all enough for being so kind during this scary time. As of right now, my sister is doing okay. She’ll have another surgery tomorrow and then she’ll be on a very long road to recovery. Again, thank you so much for everything🫶🏻

Last time we went platinum blonde with a pink bang. This time, we decided to tone her blonde down a bit and go with a super pretty dark blue💙 I love how perfectly this cut pairs with this color placement🫶🏻

High Maintenance ➡️ Low Maintenance

This beautiful guest was wanting something she wouldn’t need to have done as often, but she wanted to remain mostly blonde, especially when pulling her hair up.

We decided to keep her bright around the face by giving her a strong money piece. I also applied lowlights while leaving out her blonde ends to break up the harsh line from previous traditional foils and reintroduce some dimension throughout all while keeping her ends nice and bright. We finished off with a color melt to drop her root, blend everything together and cancel out some brass🫶🏻

This has been my favorite technique to add some depth and dimension back into overly highlighted hair or to take somebody from a high maintenance look to something lower maintenance.
