At Ness Elementary, we believe that our students and their families are exceptional, valued members of our community. We envision students coming together at our school to discover joy and success as learners and citizens. The staff at Ness will utilize best instructional practices, along with abundant compassion, to meet the various needs of our students, and to help them achieve their goals as they prepare for a future of success.
Ness Families, exciting things are happening at Ness. Construction crews are working inside and outside to prepare for our kindergarden students in 2025 and a meeting space for community groups and neighbors! Due to the noise level and inconsistencies with electricity Ness office is closed until August 14th. If you have any questions or concerns, please call the district office, 509-924-2150.

Congratulations to Ness 5th grade PACE recipient Lucy. Lucy has demonstrated the importance of good character all year long. Lucy leads by example and she is a role model for her peers. Keep up the great work and remember your actions inspire and motivate those around you!
Happy Promotion Day to our 5th graders. Transitioning from elementary to middle school will be filled with new challenges and exciting opportunities. Ness 5th grade students are ready for Centennial and to soar like a Falcon. But always remember "Once a Dragon always a Dragon".

The experience of West Valley High School Seniors returning to Ness is powerful. It offers numerous benefits enriching the lives of both the seniors and the younger students they interact with. While being emotional the overall impact is profoundly positive, fostering growth, and connection. Once a Dragon always a Dragon!
Mrs. Barta, Ms. Erbeznik and Mrs. McCollum took their classes to Manito Park for a day of fun. The sun was shining and the students were bursting with excitement. Parent volunteers helped the day run smoothly. Manito Park is a perfect setting for adventure. Students enjoyed exploring and picknicking.
It's that time of year to claim lost items. On the last day of school all remaining items will be gathered up and taken to the Goodwill.

Ness Library held its first Stuffed Animal Campout. Students brought their stuffed animals to school to spend the night in the library under the watchful eye of Librarian Mrs. Bonfield. Here are a few photos of the campout fun.
Over the past few weeks, Nutrition Services has partnered with the culinary arts class at West Valley HS. The students were in a contest to develop 3 plant-based recipes for West Valley Schools. Nutrition did the judging earlier this week and the three winning recipes were selected and will be served to students next week.

This morning was the last Character Ed Breakfast for the 23/24 school year. Congratulations to all the students who received awards for April Trustworthiness, May Courage and June Integrity. Your dedication to practice positive character traits is the foundation for success. Thank you to Judy our Counseling Assistant for organizing this awesome award breakfast.
Ness 3rd grade students finished their Home Fire Safety with the Spokane Valley Fire Department.
Ness 5th grade students participated in our first Amazing Shake experience! We rallied leaders and role models in the community to teach students professional skills for success. Each 5th grade classroom then reflected on thier experiences in their classrooms! It was a great chance to show our community how important it is to connect with each other. Thank you to Greg Dimeling, James Layman, Chud Wendle and Kyle Rydell.
Mobius at Ness! Mobius Discovery Center provides a unique hands-on learning experience. Mobius chose Ness Elementary to participate in their Mobile Planetarium Experience. Ness students spent the day learning about Earth and the Solar system. Thank you to Mobius for gifting Ness with this STEAM adventure.
Today Centennial middle school surprised our students with a pop up singing performance. Thank you Mr. Vaughn Choir & Strings Teacher at Centennial for sharing your choir with our Ness students. Our students and staff filled the halls and enjoyed two songs.
Today 2nd and 3rd graders had a visit from the local fire department to wrap their safety program the fire department offers to all elementary schools. Students were thrilled to see a real firetruck up close. The highlight of the visit was when the firefighters demonstrated how to use a firehose. Student were able to use the firehose to knock down orange cones. It was exciting plus an educational experience for all students.
Today Ness 5th grade students spent the day at the ballpark watching the Spokane Indians Baseball Game. Thank you to all the family members who were able to join Ness and share in the fun.
Ness "Bikes for Books" is where students can earn chances to win a bicycle by participating in our month-long reading challenge. The main goal is to encourage children to read more by offering them a tangible incentive. Our students read 993 books. This year Teddy & Aria are the winners of the bikes. Thank you to Steve Schmedding and the Concordia Lodge #249 for sponsoring Ness "Books for Bikes" every year.
Construction going on at Ness has captivated Ness students at recess.
Despite the cold and rainy weather, parents showed their support for the Ness PTO fundraiser at Pete & Belle's by attending and participating in the ice cream event. Their dedication and enthusiasm helped make the fundraiser a YUMMY success.
Mrs. Barta's 2nd grade class did some campfire reading. The gentle sound of crackling logs played softly in the background, setting a perfect campfire atmosphere for reading.
The Millwood kindergarteners were full of excitement as they visited Ness today. Ness first graders welcomed their younger peers into their classrooms and out at recess. Their visit ended with the kindergarteners leaving with swag bags and feeling confident and eagerly looking forward to becoming Nessie Dragons next year. Thank you to our leadership students for giving the future first-graders tours of the school.

Ness students are ready to show their learning! Testing is underway for the next 3 weeks Ness is so proud of our student's dedication, hard work, and perseverance. Thank you to the parents who brought thoughtful snacks and treats. If you have questions regarding the testing schedule or additional snacks that may be needed, please reach out to your students' teacher. We love our Dragon Learners!
