Happy Thanksgiving from Dr. Hussey and the gang! We discovered if we hosted a Thanksgiving feast for ourselves, we would have a complete meal if everyone only brought their favorite dish. Except for dessert. Hmm...maybe I need to rethink this one. I'll bring Pumpkin Pie, too!
Here's our menu:
Doctor Hussey - Dark meat of the turkey
Erica - Homemade cranberry sauce (and Pumpkin Pie)
Kimberly - Potatoes au Gratin
Heather - Green Bean Casserole
Kelsey - Garlic Mashed Potatoes
But fair warning, our office will be closed Thursday, November 24th, and Friday, November 25th.
We'll see you all on Monday!

August 1st is National Sister's Day! Happy National Sister's Day from our families to yours! Share a picture with us of you and your sister. If you do not have a biological sister, post someone that is like a sister to you! You know, like someone who likes to get on your nerves, can be opinionated, tells you what to do but life would be different without. #nationalsisterday #nationalsisterday2022 #spokane #spokanevalley #spokaneeyedoctor
Since we were talking about options you can get in lenses, we thought we would show you one of the anti-reflective coatings. This one is the Razar XT on Kimberly's sunglasses. And, it's water-resistant! #eyeglasses #eyeware #eyedoctor #eyedoctorspokane #childrenseyedoctor #coolglasses #sunglasses #prescriptionglasses
What's Vision Therapy, you ask? Well, here at Dr. Hussey's office, we use many visual motion activities to stimulate the connections between the eyes and the brain. The primary issue we treat with Vision Therapy is Intermittent Central Suppression. In normal people terms, the message from one or both eyes traveling to the brain goes to sleep, like a computer screen. Eyes like to pay attention when something is moving so, once the suppressed eye sees something moving it turns back on again, like when you move the mouse and the computer screen wakes up. We have designed our VT, using visual motion exercises, to teach eyes how to stay awake and team up with the brain. This process is similar to any physical exercise, the more you do it the faster you get better. Sessions are scheduled for 45 minutes, 1-3 times per week for approximately 9 months, but everyone is different.
Summer is not quite over yet and Fall sports are just around the corner. Have you ever broken your glasses while playing a sport or wished you didn't have to swim blind? Why not try contact lenses at your next exam? They are a great alternative to glasses for those with an active lifestyle and very affordable when you alternate with your glasses. Just remember you will have to touch your eye to get them on and off!
