Hello friends,

My residential construction company is looking for an in-office employee to assist with project management and the office support of construction activities.

The position is full time and the office hours are 7 to 4 for this role. The office is located on Division in N Spokane.

We have benefits and the pay will be dependent upon your experience. We have 2 weeks of paid vacation, you’ll earn another 6-7 days of paid time off, and we have another week or so of office closures that are unpaid if you want to take those days off as well.

We are a small office and customer service is a must. Therefore one of the most important criteria is to have a positive and uplifting attitude.

The role will require strong computer skills and you will need the ability to manage your list of outstanding tasks without dropping balls.

Construction knowledge is a plus but we can train the areas you may not be proficient in. Experience with scheduling is also a plus. We use Buildertrend management software and quick books accounting software- so if you have experience in those systems please let us know.

Start date will be approximately mid-June as we will interview over the next week or two and have left room for this person to provide proper 2 weeks notice with their current employer if need be. We will start you sooner if you are not currently employed.

Show hours are Thursday 12 - 8 pm; Friday noon to 8 pm; Saturday 10 am - 6 pm; Sunday 10 am to 4 pm.

Tips for those who lost their home in the fires - from a builder with experience replacing homes destroyed by fire.

First - I’m so sorry for your loss - I’ve stood beside many victims of fires at their home site and it’s heart breaking. There were 47 in just one neighborhood. I have seen their initial sorrow, followed by the recognition that life is far more important than possessions, and shared their joy as all those feelings become replaced by hope and gratitude when they begin the rebuilding process. So wherever you are in this experience- please know that hope, joy and gratitude is in your future!

2nd - insurance companies often offer cash value payouts on your home - that will be a depreciated value based upon the homes age. Check to see what their $ limits are for rebuilding - it was about double the cash payouts in my past experiences. So building again, even if only to sell, often meant several hundred thousand more in benefit to the homeowner.

3 - check with your insurance agent regarding money limits for temporary housing needs as well as the contents of your home. For contents - you may need to itemize your contents down to the paper clips, pencils, toilet paper etc to max your recovery from that benefit.

4 - get with a builder asap. If every builder could immediately take 5 homes (which is very unlikely) then the need in Spokane right now is about 50 builders!

5 - work with a local and reputable builder. Builders will come into the area and people will get their license - you don’t want an unknown or inexperienced builder.

6 - be careful about having to give large cash deposits to builders. They may require a deposit to reserve you in their construction schedule but it should be $10k or less. Many folks have been scammed by large deposits followed by disappearing builders. The builder will be billing your insurance company - just like they bill a bank each month. High cash up front deposits may be required for cash buyers or builds that exceed the insurance payment. But that builder should be willing to have that held in escrow and drawn from the escrow agent each month.

I hope this helps you in your next steps and recovery from this disaster. Please do share this information so others who are affected benefit and don’t get harmed as they rebuild their lives.

The Oregon Road fire has moved quite a bit south and the level three evacuation now goes down Madison Road towards Day Mt Spokane Road 

It is just east of us - praying it doesn’t blow west!!!

Friends who may have lost their homes or out buildings in the fires in Spokane.

1). Do not settle with the insurance companies for cash. We helped rebuild many families lives after the Carlton Complex fire and found that insurance companies were offering “depreciated home values” for cash to avoid paying for rebuilding your home. You’d be much further ahead to rebuild and sell than to take a depreciated and reduced cash payment. Like hundreds of thousands ahead.

2) there are companies that, for a fee, could get you tens of thousands more by itemizing every item in your home. They literally estimate costs for things like paper clips, tape, etc. I have seen folks give $30k to companies like that who got them $100k more from the insurance companies and netted $70k more in payout.

Remember - it’s the insurance companies job to mitigate their losses - which translates into screwing you out of what is a available to you from the policy you paid for!

Keith and Angie’s Dream is coming true!!!

This photo was taken after they picked the location and orientation of their home. As you can see - they are soon to be enjoying a completely customized home with amazing territorial and mountain views from our Peone Prairie 10 acre parcels (3 left)!

The parcel is part of a USDA registered farm. This means they will have the benefit of lower taxes and can enjoy their acreage without having to maintain it.

Acreage with Natural gas is very rare and to be located in the coveted Mead School district means Keith and Angie will be cozy warm and know their kids will be in a top Spokane school district!

So sorry this is late (the flu took me out yesterday) but there is no chance I'm not mentioning the women in my life on this special women's day!

My mom was one of very few women in her company that made it to a VP role and she did it with only a HS degree. Her dynamic thinking outside the box, problem solving, team empowerment and incredible work ethic paved her way from the mail room to the top. Thank you for the lesson you've taught me Mom!

Our company has 2 incredible women who put all the pieces together and make our clients feel special every day! Thank you Heather and Jan for always lifting our spirits while keeping the machine going every day!

My wife has a masters degree and chose to become the CEO of home operations and with 4 kids, some with special needs, she and all that she does each day is the definition of accomplishment. A role that nobody cheers for, tells you how great you are, or even thanks you for your service to them. She has the toughest, thankless job and most rewarding job on the planet. Thank you Julie for making my personal life amazing!
