As we ramp up construction this year we have some make ready work to do. This morning the crew made light work of a cabinet installation that will allow one of our tower sites to serve fast reliable internet to over 1000 roof tops from just this tower.

This site now has 10gbps fiber, over 24 hours of battery capacity, generator transfer switch, and a conditioned cabinet to keep all the high tech goodies in pristine order.

The current equipment on the tower only had to be offline for about 2 hours and now the site is ready for the next major step of getting incredible new Tarana next gen fixed wireless equipment, in addition to Aviat and Google Taara backhaul radios deployed.

All the things we need to have the most redundant internet service possible, because we know that uptime matters!

We are heartbroken to hear about our customer and friend Jeff Cherry. We have now completed full restoration of storm related outages.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and thank you to all the first responders, linemen, road crews, and everyone else for quick efficient action to get everyone back to normal life.

If you are still without power please be sure to let us know if you do not have service once your power is restored. We have techs on the road completing service calls until everyone is taken care of.

[STORM UPDATE 2023-08-31 09:30]

We have restored services to SOUTHEAST-STATION, TRENTON-EAST, and TENTH-AVE sites. All other sites are functional excluding the following ongoing maintenance.

HILLTOP: Intermittent power issues have caused us to decide to turn down the site for minutes at a time while we diagnose an issue with one of the tower top access points.

RIVERWALK: Restoration in progress. Mobile tower that is serving the area until the permanent tower is built was lowered for safety. Full restoration expected within the hour.

Please stay safe! There will be no resources available to assist anyone who does not evacuate during the peak of the storm.

[STORM ALERT]

As predictions show Idalia becoming a Cat 3 hurricane and making land fall directly in our region we are taking every precaution to prepare.

We will have assets available throughout the storm for emergency communications restoration and community support. If you consider your location vulnerable we encourage you to relocate to a shelter prior to land fall.

We also want to encourage everyone to use a battery backup on your internet service devices as well as keep a spare in case you need to connect power to establish communications for an emergency. If you have questions or concerns about the storm feel free to contact us or your local first responders via their non-emergency phone numbers.

Fiber Cuts: Why do they matter?

More importantly why do they not impact us? We are busy building the next generation of networking because we know the pain of fiber cuts. Having previously spent days awaiting restoration while a splicer repairs large count fiber we set out to find a way to solve that problem and still deliver high speed services.

This morning after experiencing a fiber cut we were able to get our network restored in one hour using high capacity wireless links between towers. If the same cut were to occur on a fiber to the home/business network it would be hours or days until restoration and the number of premises offline would be staggering.

As we continue to build our self healing network across Gilchrist County it will only become more resilient, making outages a thing of the past.

We’re having a blast building the next generation of networking. Our speeds to the premise are getting faster and faster but what’s more important is we are building in redundancy like no one ever has before. Our mesh design of towers creates a self healing network that keeps every customer online even in the event of a fiber cut. Traditional fiber to the home (shared passive optical fiber network) can’t even come close to that and that’s why the future of the internet, smart cities, and connected devices is technology nuetral. We bring the right tools for each job. Here’s a speed test from a customer install today.

Over the weekend our engineers did an emergency maintenance on one of our tower sites due to some anomalies in the network over the prior week. They were able to identify the cause and make some necessary upgrades at the same time. Here’s the result from one of our customer homes that subscribes to 100x100 service. Happy customers make happy engineers!

We just hooked up Fratello's Pizzeria in downtown Trenton. Go enjoy a delicious pizza and give the free Wi-Fi a test drive. Got these amazing speeds and this is just the beginning for us!

Here’s a view of Trenton that not many get to see! This week we are working on our third of five tower deployments to bring high speed Internet to Trenton and south Gilchrist (from east to west) with another eight towers throughout Gilchrist County in our partnership with the State of Florida Broadband Office.

Exciting news for Gilchrist County!

We have been pretty quiet lately as we were working hard for the citizens of our communities. Our efforts have paid off, Gilchrist County we already started bridging your divide and now we have the opportunity to do so even faster!

We are very proud and excited to announce that we have been given the opportunity by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to use the Broadband Opportunity Fund grant program to rapidly deploy reliable, high speed internet services to the citizens of Gilchrist County.

We know that everyone has been very anxiously awaiting our services in the areas that we have already begun our deployments and we can't wait to get every single request fulfilled. We promise to not only work day and night to take care of those that are covered by this opportunity but to continue to support every single residence and business in Gilchrist as quickly as possible.

[NETWORK EVENT - MINOR IMPACT]

Quail Run and Mistletoe Communities

This morning we received a notification that one of our network devices was offline. We immediately began diagnostics and determined that one of our upstream transport services was down. We have deployed failover service to the site and it is back online with limited capacity.

Full capacity will be restored within the day but ALL impacted customers are online with reduced capacity using our redundant failover systems.

Broadband Technician (or trainee)

ROAMR Wireless & Broadband is currently seeking technicians or trainees to grow with us as we expand our network.

You would be a part of our family and represent our brand to Residential and Commercial clients:

Primary Responsibilities

Install equipment at residential and business locations for the purpose of providing broadband internet services.

Conduct site surveys, service calls, installs and site work professionally and to the standards set forth by the company.

Assist with building any necessary structures like towers, buildings, cabinets, battery back-up systems, foundations, cabling, grounding, trenching, equipment, poles, supports and conduit.

Communicate and interact with customers about services offered, installation plans and promotions.

Ensure company vehicle is properly stocked with necessary supplies.

Communicate clearly with customers in person and over the phone to successfully resolve trouble tickets.

Educate all customers on proper usage of our service and any installed products.

Successfully complete various training and certification courses and apply the new skill sets to work.

In this position your work may include:

Work on a variety of towers, structures and buildings after obtaining proper training.

Use a variety of hand tools, power tools, parts, equipment, machines and vehicles.

Communicate with other technicians and staff as a cohesive team.

Requirements:

Ability to work indoors and outdoors.

Ability to work in small and confined spaces (ex. attic, crawl space and around furniture)

Ability to safely carry and climb ladders.

Ability to sit, stand, stoop, crawl, lay, bend or any other movement as needed.

Ability to lift up to 100 pounds to position, install, mount and carry items.

Ability to communicate in person, in written word, and on the phone effectively.

Ability to clearly see and identify various colors of wiring.

Ability to drive, inspect, operate and conduct basic maintenance of Company vehicles and equipment.

Ability to tolerate exposure to the Florida elements.

Ability to learn, understand and demonstrate training tasks properly.

Ability to travel periodically.

Qualifications:
-18 years of age
-Valid state driver’s license
-Ability to work variable shift times
-Basic knowledge of computers or networking

UPDATE 11/13/2022: Huge thanks to Duke Energy for getting power restored last night.

UPDATE 3:55 PM: OVERSTREET is operating on generator power and battery backups. Network services are at 100% at this time.

UPDATE 2:21 PM: HILLTOP-1 is operating on generator power and battery backups. OVERSTREET is being assessed. Thank you for your patience.

We are currently experience power losses at HILLTOP-1 and OVERSTREET. Generators have been deployed and we expect restoration with the hour.

We are closely monitoring Nicole and do not anticipate any network issues. We will continue operations as normal at this time.
